🚨 Staying safe in rabies hotspots.

Safe at home doesn’t mean safe abroad. Rabies is one of the world’s deadliest and oldest known diseases to humanity – and it’s still present in over 150 countries and territories across the globe.

If you are travelling to or live in an area with rabies, it’s vital that you know how to protect yourself and your loved ones.

✨ Remember these key steps to stay safe ✨

💉221,391 DOGS VACCINATED AGAINST RABIES 💉

We have just completed our two-week vaccination campaign in Cambodia, working in collaboration with General Directorate of Animal Health and Production (GDAHP) and other brilliant partners!

This crucial #OneHealth initiative, now in its third year, is protecting dogs and people from rabies – a disease that is nearly always fatal once symptoms develop.

Additionally, our @wvs.cambodia mobile treatment team have been responding to reports of sick or injured animals across Phnom Penh, with 1,471 animals treated during this campaign 🩺

🏫 Ahead of the campaign, a school-based rabies education programme was delivered to improve awareness of rabies and how to prevent the disease – this reached nearly 640,000 students.

✨ We are so thankful to everyone who made this project possible! Over 750 people were involved in delivering this across the Provinces of Phnom Penh, Kandal, and Battambang, including over 250 Cambodia veterinary students and more than 50 international volunteers ✨

Rabies is a cruel and deadly disease. But it is 100% preventable. By coming together, we will make Cambodia rabies free and create a safer world for all 💛

Today is #WorldRabiesDay 💉🐕

Rabies is a cruel and deadly disease - still causing unimaginable pain and suffering today.

But it is 100% preventable.

Once symptoms show it is almost always fatal – which is why prevention is crucial.

This World Rabies Day we need your help to reach even more communities.

Your donation will fund vital vaccination campaigns, education sessions and rabies surveillance programmes that will save lives.

💛 £5 teaches 25 children how to protect themselves against rabies.

💛 £15 vaccinates and protects 10 dogs against rabies for a whole year.

💛 £50 equips one team of animal handlers with catching nets, to safely and humanely catch and vaccinate stray dogs.

By donating today, you are giving hope for a world free from rabies.

💙🐾 What a two weeks it's been.

From the first vaccination to the final tally, The Big Shot brought together veterinary teams, local communities and supporters with one shared goal: protecting dogs and people from rabies.

Every dog vaccinated is another step towards a future where no child dies from this entirely preventable disease.

Thank you for following the journey, supporting the teams, sharing our updates and helping spread the message that rabies can be ended.

The Big Shot may be over, but the fight against rabies continues! 💙

☀️ Happy Saturday from Big Shot! 🐾

We've met a lot of dogs over the past two weeks, but here are just a few of the adorable faces who have received their rabies vaccinations.

Every wag, wiggle and happy smile represents a dog protected from a deadly but preventable disease. by @missionrabies

💉184,562 dogs vaccinated 🐶

Dogs are surprisingly good teammates in the fight against rabies.

Once vaccinated, they're marked and mapped by our teams. Because dogs are territorial, each protected dog helps create a barrier that rabies struggles to cross.

Enough vaccinated dogs, and entire communities become protected 🛡️🐶

#TheBigShot #EndRabies #OneHealth by @missionrabies

One vaccinated dog protects more than just one dog. Every dog vaccinated against rabies helps build something bigger: a protective halo. 🛡️

As more dogs in a community are vaccinated, it becomes harder for rabies to spread. That protection extends beyond the dogs themselves to the people who live alongside them, including families, children, and entire communities.

This is why the work @missionrabies does is so important. Every dog vaccinated brings us one step closer to breaking the cycle of rabies transmission and preventing unnecessary deaths. 🫶

Just a few days left 🐶

The days are long, the weather is challenging, but the teams keep going.

Across Cambodia, vaccinators, vets, volunteers and local communities are giving everything they've got to make The Big Shot a success.

Every dog vaccinated is another step closer to a rabies-free future 🙌

Next stop, 200,000!

#EndRabies #OneHealth by @missionrabies

🌍 While The Big Shot is underway in Cambodia, the fight against rabies doesn't stop elsewhere.

Right now, Mission Rabies teams around the world are continuing to vaccinate dogs, educate communities, investigate bite cases and work towards a future free from rabies.

From the teams delivering The Big Shot to those working every day across our programme countries, every vaccination and every conversation helps bring us one step closer to ending rabies.

To everyone involved, wherever you are in the world: thank you 💙🐾
