What makes a party with me so special?!

1 . I take the party to you! Whether it's to your front door or favorite spot.

2. When creating your party, I think about your child's developmental needs. I will never suggest a project because it makes me more money. I will always recommend what I know to be appropriate for a child's age, your space, timing, etc.

3. That means every party is unique and made for you! If you just have a theme but are unsure about everything else, that's fine too! Let me know, and I'll send you a list of options.

4. I'm your administrator, teacher, studio assistant, etc. So I know your party front back and sideways. I've also been teaching for 13 years and have a degree in art, so I have your back!

5. I want you to have an amazing time! And that means sometimes we need to be flexible. It also means taking your budget into consideration. Sometimes, breaking the bank means unwanted stress, and it takes away from the moment. So let's think through numbers together to make something right for you!

And above all else , your feelings matter. So, let's create something out of love and kindness.

Art creates a space for children to play and ask questions without judgements.

Over my career, I struggled with wanting the art to look good, so my bosses were impressed. Because if it looked "bad," it was a reflection of my teaching. WHAAAT. SO STRESSFUL!

Kids feed off our energy! And while I did my best, there were moments where my stress went onto them. Since starting my own business, I've embraced process more and the idea of cultivating a love of art, not pushing a final product.

Making art should feel like a choice, not a battle. Embrace the mess and let's play, explore, learn together!

I try not to make too many demos, as I want the kids to go into the project with their own ideas, not mine. But how could I not want to make a Halloween tote bag?! This is going to be such a fun party today!! Stay tuned for pictures from this Halloween bash.

Want a private holiday craft party? What are you waiting for!?! DM me to learn more ❤️

Swipe through for my two cents on the matter.

It's important to remember, I am not a traditional art teacher for an elementary school. I get to experience art in a different way. BUT as someone who has taught art in school/camp settings, I do believe we need to be more open to how to incorporate play into our practice.

I spent so much time having my opinions made for me in art school. It was working with kids that made me realize how much beauty there is in experimentation and throwing caution to the wind.

I'm not perfect. Sometimes I let me stress color my opinion on a project. But it's always important that I bring myself back to the real mission. Teaching a love of art, not enforcing it, and reminding them that art is subjective.

Love,
Miss Jay

The leaves fell right into our art room last week! At @gymazingg we celebrated the arrival of fall and the beautiful changing of the leaves with this watercolor collage!

We experimented with crayon and watercolor wax resistance and added tissue paper for texture. Join us every Tuesday at 10am for story, songs, art, and free play!
