👽🛸It’s been 1 YEAR since I played #theremin with the Central Ohio Symphony on Linda Kernohan’s concerto for theremin & chamber orchestra!

What do YOU think? Theremin with a symphony: yay or nay?

Composers! Who will write the next theremin piece for me to perform? I ♥️ collaboration!

This is a clip from Movement 2 of Linda Kernohan’s Theremin Concerto… the coolest part? It was inspired by MY own song from SPACE, For the Birds 🐦

Linda took the essence of For the Birds and really rolled with it… the whole symphony seems to float in melody the whole time, while I swim through it with soaring high theremin lines… swapping bird calls with the piccolo, and even singing a line with my *human* voice at the end from the original song.

It’s really fun to listen to my song and compare and contrast it to this movement, to see how they relate and connect 🩵✨

We world-premiered the Concerto in its entirety 3 movements in November with the Central Ohio Symphony, and you’ll be able to hear it all today on my YouTube channel! (The third movement was also inspired by a song of mine… any guesses which one?)

New on my lil Sübstack! I reminisce about teaching and learning... I loved it, and also it sucked, and I miss my students like crazy, and I’m glad to be out of academia. I contain multitudes! 😂 L!nk in bio! by @caroline_scruggs_

Is there a recording that always just knocks you flat, no matter how many times you hear it? And that you’re sad you can’t hear again for the first time? I wrote a little thing about one of those for me. Time to go to CHURCH with the one and only Leontyne Price! Check out my Substack — link in bio! by @caroline_scruggs_

I asked the gentleman and scholar known as my dear husband Brian McMichael for topic suggestions, and he gave me something suitably highfalutin’. 😂🐶💨 (l!nk in bio!) by @caroline_scruggs_
