Hi friends,

2025 was such a strange year. It was devastating, frustrating, and yet still beautiful in unexpected ways (I’ve learned that you can hold all these truths at once).

So yea, the year sucked, and then it didn’t, and then it did, and then it didn’t again. Looking back on my creative life, here are some highlights from the past 12 months.

Thanks for going through this journey with me. Cheers 🥂

1. Launched @misswordpower with nothing but a whim and a username I created back in 2008.

2. Wrote with and met a ridiculous number of talented people, both IRL and online, shoutout @gatherpoets .

3. This year I worked on poetry, a fiction novel, a short story, creative nonfiction, and a children’s book.

4. Wrote 75 poems(?!). Some are complete, some need revising, but wow, I’m floored I had that in me.

5. Had my work featured in 9 publications.

6. Hosted 2 IRL writing workshops with @queensbookbazaar .

7. Fueled my creativity with many, many matcha lattes.

8. Stopped putting pressure on myself to be perfect and started sharing my imperfect WIPs.

9. Worked on being less self-deprecating every time someone compliments my work. (Accepting volunteers to help me test this out 😏).

10. Fell in love with myself (and writing) again.

See you next year!

Reading “Sin” with @gatherpoets at our Chicago showcase was such a dream ✨ Can you spot the seven deadly sins hidden in these stanzas? #spokenwordpoetry #poetrygram #spokenwordvideo #livepoetry #poetrylive #poetryoftheday #womenwhowrite by @misswordpower

Thank you to everyone who came to our collage and writing workshop last Thursday! We had guided writing prompts and tips by @misswordpower, all the collage materials you could wish for, a mini book fair and Halloween candy by yours truly, vintage nat geo magazines provided by our friends at @qnscollaborative, and a cozy space and menu by @greatsofcraft. 🎃

What a fun evening and we’re so happy we could share this creative space with you all. If you’d like to see more events like this, let us know! We’d love to plan it again. 😊 by @misswordpower

And we’re back! Your girl loves a theme and I couldn’t pass up Halloween so come hang out, eat some candy and write spooky/silly/weird things with me (and others!). I’ll bring a variety of prompts to get us going and @milliescoffeenyc will have some delish seasonal drinks to keep you hydrated and caffeinated.

Tickets in bio! 👻 by @misswordpower

Join us for a chill night of community and creativity! Write freely with guided prompts and make an art collage with writer and poet @misswordpower.

Enjoy drinks, mocktails, and food from @greatsofcraft’s curated menu. We’ll have a mix of creative warm-ups and writing prompts to get you started, then you can write, collage, or do a little of both.

The idea is to stop overthinking, follow your instincts, and see what comes out when you give yourself a little room to have fun.

Just bring a notebook and a friend or two! All other supplies for collage making will be provided.

Tickets are FREE but RSVP is required as space is limited! Link in bio to sign up 🔔 by @misswordpower

Writing with this group last week made my heart feel so full ❤️ thank you @milliescoffeenyc for hosting and thank you to all the writers who really gave this their all, including my emotional support crew @afalz141 @speradactyl @charly_scone @neetbabyy @tygailloux.

I mean it when I say I was blown away at how talented everyone was. Take a look at their group poems and tell me you’re not just a little more hopeful today. by @misswordpower

More writing nights! This time I’m partnering with @wordbookstores in Greenpoint and hosting another generative writing session on October 8th from 7-8pm! I’ll bring some prompts to get you going and encourage you to chase whatever ideas come up.

Grab tickets through the link in my bio.

I hope to see all of your beautiful brains there 🙃 by @misswordpower

This poem was born out of the very real fact that billionaires could do a lot more but choose to build space stations and hoard shiny things instead.

First published with @bloodhoneylit, thank you for giving this a home! Link in bio for the original publication. by @misswordpower

Hi 👋 here’s a little live reading of my poem “random facts about me”. I’m also now realizing this is basically a poet’s version of those icebreaker games they make you play so pleaseeee tell me a random fact about you so It’ll feel like we’re at summer camp together. by @misswordpower
