Anyone can order a roomful of furniture.
Often, dreaming up something entirely personal and having someone make it is much more gratifying. For this client, a custom dining table was the perfect solution, marrying their need for flexible seating when families gather and a touch of modernism in a century-old home.

Inspired by an antique Danish rosewood table, we adopted the key elements that make it such a beauty: a beveled top, delicately tapered legs and a unique v-shaped base to accommodate the maximum numbers of revelers at family gatherings.

Made in walnut, it provides a grounding contrast to the natural oak trim throughout the house.

Marrying firm, function and beauty all comes naturally to @molly_quinn_design.

What’s the secret to a calm, comfortable home that just feels right? A cohesive color palette that weaves almost imperceptibly throughout the space. Take a stroll through our Forest Avenue project and see if you can feel your cortisol levels dropping.

The primary bath at our Park Avenue project was designed for busy parents. We created a serene treetop escape that delights the senses and energizes you to tackle another round of homework, carpool and dinner duty with gusto.

Creating spaces you never want to leave is all in a day’s work at @molly_quinn_design.

As a designer, you know exactly how a space can look.
But sometimes, your clients need to see it before they can truly understand your vision.
A sketch can help you:
* Gain confidence in your design decisions
* Present your design with clarity
* Help clients «see» the finished space
* Get fast approvals and save time
The result of collaborating with me is accurate, detailed, artfully drawn sketches that reflect your interior design with precision and charm.

This sketch of a chic, classic kitchen was created for a designer from Chicago.

One of the best parts about my job as an Interior Designer is creating custom upholstery for clients. I wouldn’t be able to do this without my amazing workroom.

I choose to work with other small businesses that share my standards of quality and beauty.

People who care deeply about their work and value human relationships.

The words “It’s done. When can you come see it?” are like magic to an Interior Designer. There have been moments when I’ve walked into the workroom.to see a completed piece and shed tears of joy. There may be some jumping around, and a lot of high fives.

It takes an enormous amount of trust to ship someone thousands of dollars of fabric and ask them to cut it into pieces! It’s also a process that can take months. There are many check-ins, adjustments and tweaks to get it just right. Each piece is unique. It’s almost like... giving birth. Then we send these babies out to spread joy and make the world a more beautiful place.

Why do we do this? Because if we didn’t we’d all be sitting on factory-made bland furniture and resting our heads on hard foam pillows.

Yes, it’s an investment.
Yes, it takes time.
Yes, it’s worth it! by @molly_quinn_design

There’s a chill in the air and we’re ready for it. That wasn’t always the case here in this River Forest turn of the century home. The fireplace sits in the center of the floor plan, visible from nearly every angle. The original surround felt a bit… aggressive. So we smoothed out the angles and @ferdjohnsonpainting did a masterful job of finishing it off in Venetian plaster. Old house problems. We love ‘em!

Kitchens: large or small, we do it all. ✨
What’s more important than square footage or materials? That it’s just right for you and blends seamlessly with your home.
A kitchen that looks like it’s been there forever is one of my favorite kinds.

Progress at one of River Forest projects. You won’t find anything cookie-cutter here, because everything’s been customized to our clients and their lifestyle.

Ant one of our design meetings, there was a mention of a Nancy Drew collection. 😮 So we set to work and built a secret loo tucked away behind a hidden bookcase and made room for a tea counter, liquor cabinet and an an old-fashioned phone.

Three reasons why September is my favorite month: 1) There’s a sense of wiping the slate clean, starting fresh, and anticipating good things. 2)The weather is gorgeous with its cool mornings and warm sunny days. 3) It’s my birthday month!

The mudroom at #mqdnewtraditional captures the calm and organized energy I’m going for. Hope you have a great year!

I call this “making the most of 48 square feet.”
The bath at #mqdcolorfulcraftsman is rich in detail but still feels like a treetop escape. 🍃
