Drummer Erica brought a new toy today called the clap stacks. The stacks are made of thin metal cymbals designed to create a short, sharp, dry sound resembling an electronic handclap.
What’s cool is that they’re completely acoustic—no electronics required.
Drummers use them in funk, reggae, hip-hop, R&B, and pop to add that snappy, electronic-style clap sound. Check out how she used them in this song. Having fun with new sounds!!! Thanks Erica!!! #drummergirl #mombandsd #clapstacks by @mombandsd

Erica on drums this weekend!

Lenny Kravitz’s “I Belong to You” gets a little reggae makeover. What do you think of this island twist?

Shaka, ocean breezes, surf, sunshine, and family vibes. Just riding the rhythm and having fun with it.

Sunday mom band practice.

Last song of the day. Tired, hangry, losing focus, and getting a little nuts. “Runaway Train” went completely off the rails and into death growl territory.

Not sure what we were thinking, but we went with it.

First time playing “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star, with the lovely Ms. Kristen taking the lead on vocals. No rehearsed perfection here, just a bunch of mom friends making music, figuring it out as we go, and loving every minute of it.

Great job on vocals and vibes Marilyn… your voice is supahhhh silky. Our take on Lenny Kravitz’s “I Belong to You.” A little soulful, a little groovy, and a whole lot of Mom Band love.

Sunday jams, good vibes, and making music our own way.
