Faux Lacquerwork panel with a wrapped bamboo frame for my demonstration piece this year at @decorativepaintingsalon 🐠 I love fish; can you spot the intentional mistake? Had a lot of fun with @giustomanettibattiloro loose and transfer 23.5ct gold leaf, fighting size curing times in the Italian sun. Using @hv_art_lacquerpaint Crystal Lacquer 90 with tint between gilding coats to build the depth ⭐ #decorativepainting #interiordesign #commission #gilding #lacquer by @mortimerfinefinishes
Very proud to share my presentation piece from @decorativepaintingsalon Rome 2026. Trompe L’Oeil mosaic floor with a black quartzite slab surround and sienna border inlay. 🇮🇹 This was a labour of love and my collection of 8mm square brushes gets all the glory here, working on my floor to get this mammoth piece complete! #decorativesurfaces #trompeloeil #interiorart #mosaic #specialistdecoration by @mortimerfinefinishes
I’m so happy to be able to share my exhibition panel for my first @decorativepaintingsalon @salon_horsens hosted by @heidi_zilmer 👩🏻‍🎨 The hours spent squirrelling away in my studio were so worth it for the reception, validation, and guidance I received from fellow salon peers. Pietra Dura Trompe L’oeil inspired by a gorgeous table at @wallacemuseum . Using: @hv_art_lacquerpaint OTPH glaze and Quartz 40 lacquer varnish // @fauxbrushes brushes // @goldenpaints Process to come … #decorativesurfaces #gilding #goldleaf #historiccrafts #specialist #specialistfinishes #interiors #interiordesign #youngcraftsman #trompeloeil #marbling #fauxbois #artist #youngartist #fauxmarbes #fauxmarble #specialistdecoration #salon #salon2025 #artisan #exhibition #artgallery #salonhorsens #pietradura by @mortimerfinefinishes
Mortimer’s full renovation works in The Penny Bar at @hippodromecasino 🪙🦛 We applied a full copper leaf finish to the inner bar ceilings and fluted bar front, with black satin finished bulkheads to bring the ceiling in line with the floor detailing. Greatly looking forward to seeing what else will be done with the space … Our thanks go to the Hippodrome bar staff for being so patient with us climbing all over their bar, and to @goldleafsupply for accommodating such a giant copper transfer order 🫣 @charbonnel1875 @tikkurila_uk @duluxuk #decorativesurfaces #gilding #goldleaf #historiccrafts #specialist #specialistfinishes #interiors #interiordesign #youngcraftsman #trompeloeil #marbling #fauxbois #artist #youngartist #fauxmarbes #fauxmarble #specialistdecoration #moderninterior #newinteriors #fitout #renovation #hippodromecasino #hippodrome #gilding #specialist #copperleaf #coppergilding #londonbars #londonnightlife by @mortimerfinefinishes
Recent collaboration with @westlondontileco matching in some beautiful Brazilian quartzite for the brand new Paddy’s Sportsbook @hippodromecasino 🏜️ Matching the stone through into faux curved panels and a sectioned back plate around the flat return of the bar front was a fantastic brief, and working alongside a talented installation team made all the difference. • Using @hv_art_lacquerpaint OTPH glaze and CL90 lacquer with hardener to protect against pesky knees // @fauxbrushes brushes Special mention to @aurelien_francisco for the varnish brushes that saved the day and @foffe84 for the toppest of tips 👀 #decorativesurfaces #gilding #goldleaf #historiccrafts #specialist #specialistfinishes #interiors #interiordesign #youngcraftsman #trompeloeil #marbling #fauxbois #artist #youngartist #fauxmarbes #fauxmarble #specialistdecoration #fauxstone #quartzite #bartop #hippodromecasino #fitout #paddysportsbook #casino #interiors #artisticinteriors by @mortimerfinefinishes

My demonstration panel for @decorativepaintingsalon @salon_horsens ⚜️ Sodalite and Fantasy Green Breche marble border with some trompe bevels, surrounding gilded constellations. When living in New York I loved the gilded ceiling in the hall of Grand Central Station restored by @johncanningco , so used the zodiacs as the main focus of my piece. Also decided to attempt @julien_gautier_ fantasy green as the border and totally didn’t forget some crucial colours ..! Using: Gilding: @charbonnelparis 12hr Size // @goldleafsupply 23.5ct leaf // @acrilino super skinny blended squirrel and synthetic brushes for sizing Marbling and Trompe L’Oeil: @hv_art_lacquerpaint OTPH glaze and CL60 lacquer // @rosemarybrushes // @goldenpaints #decorativesurfaces #gilding #goldleaf #historiccrafts #specialist #specialistfinishes #interiors #interiordesign #youngcraftsman #trompeloeil #marbling #fauxbois #artist #youngartist #fauxmarbes #fauxmarble #specialistdecoration #youngartisan #salon2025 #trompeloeil #heritage #youngcraftsman #zodiac by @mortimerfinefinishes
A small process video of creating my @decorativepaintingsalon panel for @salon_horsens . It took me 3 seasons of the US office, at least 30 lattes, and many hours of hairdrying to complete! Changing the base colours every 3 days didn’t help with the speed… #decorativesurfaces #gilding #goldleaf #historiccrafts #specialist #specialistfinishes #interiors #interiordesign #youngcraftsman #trompeloeil #marbling #fauxbois #artist #youngartist #fauxmarbes #fauxmarble #specialistdecoration #exhibition #salon2025 #fauxmarbes #youngartisan #pietradura #reel #artreelsofinstagram by @mortimerfinefinishes

Completion of the Jersey Opera House renovation means I can finally share photos of this amazing project 🎭 4 months with the fantastic team from @ashbe_constructionjsy , with @maybankassociates working to bringing back a fresh opulence to the Auditorium with Dutch Leaf gilding, faux marble, and a new colour scheme. Working alongside @stevensonsofnorwich to ensure the substrate was safe and sturdy to carry out our specialist finishes, our first Channel Islands project was run with great communication between contractors and clients. Greatly looking forward to the public being able to use this space again, and to being back in the islands soon ⭐️ #decorativesurfaces #gilding #goldleaf #historiccrafts #specialist #specialistfinishes #interiors #interiordesign #youngcraftsman #trompeloeil #marbling #fauxbois #artist #youngartist #fauxmarbes #fauxmarble #specialistdecoration #conservation #englishconservation #heritage #heritageproject #heritagebuilding #interiorrestoration #jersey #operahouse #restoration #renovation #traditionaltechniques by @mortimerfinefinishes
