🔍 Anyone else finding that the standard Google search bar is no longer your first port of call when looking something up?

I was speaking with my Digital Business Skills class last night about the ways that we've noticed search behaviour changing...going to be an interesting near future ahead for Search.

Two weeks ago when I was in a UK city I was struggling to find a cafe with a decent gluten free breakfast/lunch option, I was hangry and impatient and Google wasn't cutting the mustard for me.

ChatGPT was able to make a suggestion for me within seconds on where to go, how far away it was, opening times - and based on recent reviews - that it had GF options that were highly rated. This was in a quick, formatted summary requiring one prompt and no clicks. (Cherry Reds was 👌🏻)

Google’s generative search experience (SGE) Chat GPT, CoPilot and any application that uses generative AI are making search more of a conversation and less of a find-and-click exploration.

Any businesses who have taken their ratings and reviews seriously already will be ahead of the game as these generative language tools get smarter every day, aggregating verified reviews to help those searching find a trusted, peer reviewed result.

So - get your Trustpilot accounts claimed/integrated, do an audit of your Google Business Profiles, get verified review plug ins on site, and encourage those you work/trade with to leave online reviews - because AI is relying heavily on them to put you in front of your next customer!

On another AI note - AI within Canva generated the image on the bottom left hand corner based on the prompt "make me an image showing the relationship between AI and online reviews"

I don't particularly like it (!) and can identify so many AI generated images out there in marketing campaigns at the moment.

They give me an uncomfortable feeling when I see an obvious example as you can "tell" ... there's a commonality in the fonts and a sepia tone to the saturation. When people are included in the graphics, they look waxy and dead behind the eyes (👀😂) but, in the near future will we be able to tell...?!

🎧 Coming up on 100 episodes of @noothercraic_pod 🎉 Been recording weekly for two years and counting - with over 70 5-Star reviews on Spotify so far🙏🏻

💡As well as being a great creative outlet we've been learning a LOT through our weekly pop-culture podcast:

🎧 Consistency - 90% of podcasts don't make it past their third episode. Sticking to the schedule for our listeners is - and always has been important to us 🙏🏻

🎧 Active listening skills - hearing one another out as co-hosts on and off air, giving each other good air time and consideration to balance our points of view.

🎧 Podcast distribution - learning how to produce, edit, optimise and share our episodes via a distribution platform to ensure it's streamed on popular apps and studying the analytics.

🎧 Sound engineering/mixing ( @darrenthemoss being instrumental here to make sure sound quality is strong) speaking clearly into the mic is a life skill 😂

🎧 Content curation and research - listening to our audience to gauge topics that will resonate with the listenership each week as well as engaging with our community of listeners via social media.

🎧 Sponsor coordination - making sure we choose the right affiliated companies to work with in line with our own values and delivering for the sponsors in a unique and direct way.

Great learning experience so far and brilliant craic each week with my two compadres @moonegirl and @darrenthemoss here's to 100 more 🙏🏻🎉 by @mossmarketing

✅ 15 weeks of delivering Building Digital Skills for Business (accredited at level 5) with @donegaletb (*some of my lovely participants not pictured) under Skills to Advance funded by Solas.

🙏🏻 It was my pleasure and privilege to tutor the legends on the evening course - it was a big commitment for all involved, but we powered through - alongside day jobs and side hustles, with a lot of peer encouragement (...and some cake 🍰🤣)

👌🏻The course was centred around learning the digital tools necessary to elevate a business or organisation, social media in the main and the up to date multi channel strategies that can be used to retain competitive advantage in this online world we trade in - and we covered a lot of ground in the time we had each week.

💯 Many of the participants were owners/managers running their own shows each day but dedicating themselves to the training inside and outside of the classroom 👌🏻 sharing their own trials and errors very generously all the while - an exceptional group of people truly.

💡My case studies were as local as I could keep them because - we gain confidence by seeing the examples out there and there are so many in the Northwest and Ireland; including @lamaisonlk @shinestuna @sculptedbyaimee @getthattrend to name a few - and we looked at what peers are doing across the water particularly in hospitality @heartandcrown @thedeadrabbitpub and even what the participants themselves are creating.

📩Thanks a million to the Donegal Education and Training Board for having me as a tutor, anyone who is interested in courses like this DM me and I'll put you in touch with a coordinator 🙏🏻

I'm away to lie down 😅❤️

This 👆💯 Really got me thinking when I spotted this brilliant comment under @hiltonsophia post this morning so I had to share. I always say - progress over perfection - to clients and trainees; but by the same token I'll usually give some tools and tips on how to check on captions ahead of time - for anyone who is not comfortable writing.

✨Privately and personally I will admit I sometimes wince when I see some blatant mistakes BUT I have eased up on that due to the same empathy and sentiment as this comment;

- not everyone has had the same access to learning, nor does everyone have the same levels of written English and many may have comprehension difficulties. None of these things should mean that people are held back from or criticised for creating professional or personal content. I've made plenty of errors too - we're all human; rushing at times or just forgetting ourselves. 💬 It doesn't make our core content/effort any less impactful.

✅ There are incredible entrepreneurs who have skill-sets far beyond where to place a comma - and we should not be denied the joy of seeing that content as they share their unique messaging. Of course we want to demonstrate professionalism when promoting ourselves - and attention to detail is part of this 🙌 but don't let that hold you back from putting yourself or your business out there.

🙏And if you're someone who feels compelled to publicly correct somebody - just know it's not a good look... Message the person if it's coming from a kind well intentioned place or just leave it if you knew what they meant (!)

✨🌛 Pink Monday 🌸 Tune out the Blue Monday noise, pesky marketers 🤭 created it to increase holiday bookings and create self fulfilling prophecies around feeling like cr@p today (p.s. I don't work with anyone in travel but would be in favour of encouraging you to book a holiday if you wanted to 😂 @darrenthemoss ✈️) (...and certainly don't dismiss any helpful mental health awareness tips being shared with good intentions today, save them for again if you're not feeling blue or to share with someone who perhaps, is 👏) by @mossmarketing
