Sometimes life just feels a bit too much, and I don’t always know how to deal with everything going on in my head.

Running doesn’t make the problems disappear, but it gives me the space to clear my thoughts, breathe and feel a little more like myself again.

And sometimes that’s exactly what I need. ❤️ by @motivatedtorun

I think this is something I’m still learning, even after years of running.
I can have a run that feels absolutely awful, where nothing goes to plan, and spend the rest of the day picking it apart.
But a bad run doesn’t mean I’m a bad runner.
Sometimes it just wasn’t my day, and that’s okay.
Anyone else far too hard on themselves after a disappointing run? 🖤 by @motivatedtorun

I’ve been running for years, completed marathons and more races than I can remember, yet I still have days when I question whether I’m actually any good at it.
I think sometimes we forget that being a runner doesn’t mean every run has to feel easy or that we have to be a certain pace.
But I still need to remind myself of that sometimes. 🖤
Does anyone else ever feel like this? by @motivatedtorun

Sometimes my legs are absolutely fine, but my head has other ideas. 🙄

I’ve lost count of the number of runs where I’ve had a full-blown argument with myself. One minute I’m telling myself I can do it, the next I’m questioning why I even bothered going out!

And sometimes it’s got nothing to do with running. It’s everything else going on in life that comes along for the miles.

But that’s also why I run. It gives me a chance to clear my head, work through things, or just switch off for a while.

Anyone else find that sometimes their head is harder work than their legs? ❤️ by @motivatedtorun

I’m definitely guilty of this.
I’ll tell anyone else that their pace doesn’t matter, that they should be proud of themselves just for getting out there.
Yet when it comes to my own running, I still find myself comparing times and being far too critical.
Funny how we can be so encouraging to others but so hard on ourselves.
Anyone else need to take their own advice sometimes? by @motivatedtorun

I’ve had plenty of runs where I haven’t felt strong at all.

I’ve struggled, wanted to stop, doubted myself and wondered why it suddenly feels so hard.

But I kept going.

Maybe that’s what being strong actually looks like sometimes. 🖤 by @motivatedtorun

I’ve spent years thinking the best runs were the fastest ones, the longest ones or the ones that ended with a medal.

They’re not.

Some of the runs I remember most were just ordinary runs when I really needed to get out of the door and clear my head.

No PB. No medal. Nothing to prove.

Just a run that meant something. by @motivatedtorun

The arguments I have with myself on a run.

“I can’t do this.”

“Yes, you can.”

“No, I actually can’t.”

“Just shut up and get on with it.”

And somehow… we keep running. 😂

Anyone else have these conversations with themselves? by @motivatedtorun

I’m definitely guilty of this.

Looking at a running photo and immediately noticing all the things I don’t like.

But maybe instead of picking ourselves apart, we should remember what our bodies have just achieved.

The miles. The effort. The strength.

That deserves far more of our attention. 🖤 by @motivatedtorun

Not every run needs to be fast, long or even good.

Sometimes I just need to get out of the door, run for a while and come back feeling a little more like myself.

Anyone else? by @motivatedtorun

Some runs are hard because of the distance.

Others are hard because you remember when they weren’t.

When running used to feel easier. When your pace was quicker. When you didn’t have to work quite so hard for the miles you once took for granted.

And even though I know I shouldn’t compare the runner I am now with the runner I used to be…

Sometimes I still do.

But I’m still putting my trainers on. Still running. Still trying.

And maybe that deserves a little more credit than I give it. 🧡

Anyone else ever miss the runner they used to be? by @motivatedtorun

I have runs where it genuinely feels like my legs and my head have had an argument. 😂

My legs are perfectly capable of running, but my head seems to be about five minutes behind them.

Sometimes they eventually catch up with each other. Sometimes they don’t. Anyone else? by @motivatedtorun
