Loneliness can feel heavy even in a crowded room.

Like disconnect.
Like slowly withdrawing from life without meaning to.

If that’s where you are right now, this is your reminder to start gently.

Not pressure.
Not pretending.
Just small moments of connection.

A walk.
Music.
Movement.
A message to someone safe.
One small thing that helps you feel a little more present again. 🌿

A gentle reminder for the week ahead.🧡

You don’t have to earn your worth through productivity, perfection, or having everything figured out. There is more to you than what you achieve.

Make room for kindness. Stay curious. Welcome moments of joy. And remember that needing support doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human.

What is one small thing you’d love to make room for this week?

A walk, a good friend and a little laughter. Sometimes caring for your mental wellbeing looks this simple. Lunch is a lovely bonus. 💛

Many teenagers are feeling overwhelmed by uncertainty, academic pressure, jobs, the news, the climate, the cost of everything. The new Fonagy review lists increased uncertainty about the future as one of the drivers of rising distress in young people.

We often try to motivate teens with the long view. But when the long view feels foggy, it can tip into overwhelm. Focusing on small, achievable goals can help build hope, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.

• A plan for Saturday
• A skill they’re getting better at
• Something they’re proud of from this week

You don’t have to have all the answers for them. You just need to keep showing up for the small stuff 🤍

✨ Save this for the young person in your life.

If a young person needs to talk to someone right now, they can text SHOUT to 85258, free and 24/7.

Teen anxiety and money worries: how to talk about the cost of living with your teen 💷

Financial insecurity is one of the factors the new Fonagy review links to rising distress in young people. Teens don’t need every detail of the household budget. They do need to feel that the adults around them are steady.

A few gentle ideas:
• Keep it short and age-appropriate
• Lead with the plan, not the panic
• Let them help in small ways, like meal planning or finding a free day out
• Reassure them it’s not their job to fix it

Feeling the pressure yourself? Your wellbeing matters here too. Steady grown-ups need support as well 🤍

💬 How did money get talked about in your home growing up? Share below if you’re comfortable.

From tying their first football boots and hair ribbons to waving them off as they begin their lifelong pathways, watching your child become independent can bring pride, joy and a quiet sense of loss.

As they discover who they are, you are allowed to rediscover yourself too. A new chapter can hold purpose, creativity and fulfilment beyond active parenting. 💛

Sometimes “I’m fine” is all we can manage. A friend who offers company without pressure can make a difficult day feel less lonely. That’s emotional support, too. 💛

Teen mental health and social media: what parents can actually do 📱

The new Fonagy review into mental health in England found that distress among young people has risen substantially, and social media is one of the factors behind it.

This isn’t about blaming teens or banning screens. Young people are growing up in a world that never switches off, and they need grown-ups who stay curious rather than critical.

This week, try one conversation about their phone that doesn’t start with “how long have you been on that?” 🤍

💬 What’s one app or account the teen in your life loves? Tell me below.

What’s a sentence you still remember from when you were young? 🤍

It might have been kind. It might have stayed with you for the wrong reasons.

As a mental health nurse, I’ve heard so many adults trace how they cope with feelings back to one moment, one phrase, one reaction.

Validating a young person’s feelings doesn’t mean you have to agree, fix it or have the answer. It’s simply letting them know their inner world makes sense to you.

You can still set boundaries. You can still disagree. But start with “I hear you”, and they’re far more likely to keep coming back to you.

Tell me in the comments: what’s a sentence you wish someone had said to you? 👇

Save this for the next time a young person comes to you upset.

It’s not just their screens. 🤍
Young people need more than less screen time. They need somewhere to go, something meaningful to do and someone who notices when they’re missing.

Belonging protects mental wellbeing. Moreso on World Mental Health Day.

You don’t have to run a youth club to make a difference. Learn their name. Ask where they’ve been. Share a local activity. Offer a lift. Invite them in.

And if this is you, you deserve somewhere you belong. Keep looking. It’s out there.🤍

Looking for somewhere to start? 👇

🏀 OnSide Youth Zones: youth centres with sport, music, arts and youth workers, open to ages 8–19 (up to 25 with additional needs).
🏕️ Scouts and Girlguiding: local groups for all ages, with adventure, friendship and new skills.
🚑 St John Ambulance Cadets: first aid, teamwork and confidence
🏅 The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award: volunteering, physical activity, skills and expeditions.
📍 Your local council’s youth services page: search “[your area] youth clubs”.

These aren’t available in every community. If there’s nothing near you, search “[your area] youth clubs” or contact your local council’s youth services. They’ll know what’s running locally, including smaller groups that don’t always advertise.

📞 Under 25 in the UK? The Mix offers free, confidential support on 0808 808 4994 and can help you find services near you.

🌍 Outside the UK? Contact your local authority or council, or ask at your school, library or community centre about youth groups in your area.

Know a club, group or space where young people are welcomed? Share it below so others can find it.✨
