Hello Bangalore! We had so much fun with the Art of Balance workshop in Kochi that we are bringing it to Bangalore, for one session only, next weekend.

This workshop will focus on balance - literal physical balance (which consequently leads to mental balance 😊🙃). We will get in tune with our bodies by stepping out of our comfort zone (standing on two feet on solid ground) to explore movements like arm balances, sitting/walking on a slackline, and more. All experience levels are welcome!

Join us for The Art of Balance @indie.flow on Sunday, 9th July from 9am-11am. Rs 500 entry, pre-booking only, limited spots. DM @movement_ashram for more info.

About your instructor: Dr Mel Batson (@drmelbatson ), founder of Movement Ashram (est. 2018) and
co-founder of Climb Like A Woman (est 2018), received her PhD
in Neuroscience from Boston University in 2010 and her yoga
TTC from Rishikesh in 2018. She is an avid climber and
slackliner/highliner who is well versed at teaching a variety of
sports and movement practices with her own spin; stemming
from her years of experience as an athlete, as a neuroscientist,
and as a Kundalini and Hatha yoga student and practitioner.
Dr
Mel has extensive experience teaching and investigating the
neuroscience of perception and action, perceptual learning,
motor learning, and the relationship between motor and
cognitive learning. Her instruction style is rooted in
demonstrating that both training (control) and disruption (freedom) of our movement system can
keep our brain agile.

Happy hips. Happy International Yoga Day 🧘🏾‍♀️💚☺️ by @movement_ashram

The third instance of Food Forest Night was really great!

🤸🏾‍♀️🥭🌦️🍽️🧘🏾‍♂️🌳

We started out by shaking out our worries and balancing our minds and bodies with some slacklining. Then after the farm tour with John @hamsahorganic we had one of the most magical sunset meditations I've ever seen. We got to tune in all of our senses from the smell of the wet earth after the rain to the beautiful sunset colours in prequel to the delicious food forest feast prepared for us by @hungryalien_in (accompanied by yummy kombucha from @mountainbeekombucha )!

After movie night and a good night's sleep, we woke up enveloped in the calming aura of the farm and had a quaint yoga and pranayama session beneath the ashram tree; grounding ourselves through meditation before breakfast.

Beautiful photos, videos and tarot readings by @queenandro_ 🙏🏽🤩🎴💚

The participants and volunteers made this event all the more special, heartfelt thanks to all 🤗☺️🥰

Here's a glimpse into my recovery workout:

*Bicycle sit ups:*
• Lie on your back with your hands behind your head, bring your left knee towards your chest (slightly lifting your left hip) and extend your right leg straight whilst keeping it off the ground (right hip down). At the same time, bring your right elbow towards the left knee, raising your right shoulder off the ground and twisting your torso towards the left.
Switch - in a fluid motion - bring the right knee in (slightly lifting your right hip) and right torso down, while straightening the left leg as close to horizontal as possible (left hip down) and bring your left elbow towards the right knee, lifting the left shoulder and twisting your torso to the right. Inhale on the way down, exhale on the way up.
Repeat this entire sequence ten times
• This is one set.

"Lower body lifts:"
• Lie on your back with your arms at your sides with your palms down. Lift your legs so they are perpendicular to the ground. Knees may be bent or straight.
• Inhale, then tighten your core and press into the ground with your hands and arms, then exhale as you use your core to push your lower body away from your hands, lifting your hips and butt off the ground. Inhale as your lower body returns to the ground. Repeat six to ten times.
• This is one set.

*V crunches:*
• Lie on your back with your arms at your sides. Tighten your core and lift your legs and torso up and towards each other, forming a V shape with your body. Keep your hands out straight in front of you, parallel to the floor, and balance on your sit bones throughout. Knees may be bent or straight.

• Inhale while bringing your knees towards your chest, compressing the V. Then exhale and make the V as wide as possible, without lying on the floor. Repeat six to ten times.
• This is one set.

*Superman/woman/persons:*
• Lie on your stomach with arms and legs straight with hands and feet slightly more than shoulder width apart.
• Inhale and raise the right hand and left foot off the ground, exhale and put them down. Then inhale and raise the left hand and right foot off the ground, exhale and put them down. Repeat five times per side.

Last weekend we gathered @hamsahorganic farm for a Food Forest Night, and oh, what a night it was! We worked up our appetites with a slackline session with meL alongside some yummy welcome drinks from @mountainbeekombucha, followed by a farm tour led by John. Then we tuned in and grounded ourselves with ecstatic dance and meditation with @drmelbatson. Then came the most delicious gourmet vegan meal from @hungryalien_in - please do check out her page for more info about the meal 🙏🏽 - and we finished off the evening with a movie screening under the stars and some songs around the campfire.

All of this was documented expertly by photographer @_prarthanashetty 😍

Join us for the next Food Forest Night, feed you're body and soul, laugh, smile, and sing with us 😊🤸🏾‍♀️💜😋
