Athletes Die Twice™ is a podcast about the side of sports we don’t talk about enough-what happens to the person behind the athlete.
Every athlete has a story beyond the highlights. Behind the wins, championships, contracts, and recognition are moments of pressure, self-doubt, sacrifice, rejection, injury, identity struggles, and eventually the realization that the game won’t last forever.
Through honest conversations with athletes at every stage of their journey, we explore the moments that shaped them mentally, the people and experiences that changed the way they saw themselves, and one of the hardest questions an athlete can face:
Who am I when I’m no longer an athlete?
Because for many athletes, retirement can feel like losing a version of yourself you spent your entire life building.
That’s why we say Athletes Die Twice™
The first time is when the game ends.
The second is when life does.
The game ends. Your identity doesn’t. taken in Miami, Florida by @behn_hurricanes
