One of my favorite family moments from August: taking these movie-loving kids straight into Jurassic Park! 🦖🦕🌴

Friends, Kualoa Ranch on the island of O‘ahu, Hawai‘i, was the backdrop for so many iconic scenes from the Jurassic Park franchise, and their Jurassic Adventure Tour was so funnnnn with the best guide. I highly recommend!! @kualoaranch 💚

Leadership grows when we step outside our own worlds and learn from the people who power our communities. 🍓

For my @leadershipvc immersion activity, I chose agriculture, an industry vital to our region and deeply personal to me. My grandfather, Papá Pancho was a field worker in Oxnard so spending time at a local agricultural field off Pleasant Valley Rd. was especially meaningful.

@ayalafarms is a women-owned and family operated farm in Oxnard. The owners, Ana Ayala and her two sisters (not pictured) welcomed me to their strawberry fields so I could learn firsthand about their operation.

I learned about harvest preparation, irrigation, seasonal growing techniques and the business relationships that move strawberries from field to consumer. At peak season, Ayala Farms produces an average of 6,000 8-lb. boxes of Albion, Salma, Numeración and Eclipse strawberries. You can buy from them at Farmers Markets throughout SoCal!

Thank you, Ayala Farms for sharing your fields, knowledge and story with me. 🍓

We got an early preview of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and I am SO impressed with ALL OF IT!!🤩
The architecture, the vibe, the priceless art collections, props and costumes that have marked generations, like Norman Rockwell’s “The Problem We All Live With” and the original Cowardly Lion costume from The Wizard of Oz to incredible Star Wars art and artifacts and SO MUCH MORE…. 30 galleries, 40,000 works…

And then as we’re walking through endless galleries… everything stopped. An original Frida Kahlo self-portrait, caught my eye, placed alongside original works by Diego Rivera. WOW 🇲🇽❤️✨

The museum also has a library and a third floor we never made it to. This state-of-the-art experience requires at the very least a full day.

Thank you and amazing job, Mr. George Lucas and Mellody Hobson.

And thanks to my friend Perla at Universal for the early access ✨

This grown woman is still a Disney fan through and through so Aulani was a MUST for me and Toby ✨🌺

We enjoyed Mickey-ear shave ice, character meet & greets, Hawaiian culture and history, and shopping for tiny Duffy & Friends plushies (which I hadn’t seen since Tokyo Disneyland) 🧸💕

For our next Hawaiʻi trip: staying at Aulani will be mandatory 🤪 Paul and Benny may need convincing though (they loved that quiet beach condo life too much) but in typical Disney property fashion, this place is paradise! 🌴

Memories of San Francisco. 🌁❤️

I miss you, cool city. And damn, you’ve cleaned up quite nicely. ✨

Fun fact: In Mexico, the name Francisco is often affectionately nicknamed “Pancho”

So until next time… thank you, San Pancho. 😀😆🌉

I don’t know if working at the County Library has officially rewired my brain, but I can’t walk past a bookstore / library anymore without wandering in… and SF has tons of them!! 📚❤️
