@ilfdublin hired The Illustrated Dispatch to cover events at their vast and fantastical festival. I took 6 illustrators along with me and we spent the day scrawling our way from tent to tent, I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say it was one of best things I've ever had the pleasure to be involved in. Here is a small sample of some of the sketches collected across the day. I'll share more over the coming days from @theillustrateddispatch

I'll be at the La Fanu tent Merrion square tomorrow (Friday 22nd) at 1.30pm to talk about the project - and rant about how important and special illustrators are in general :) short notice, but please pop in, it's free!

Special mention to honourary dispatcher @bunti.lee who designed all the fabulous ILFD merch 🤘 by @mrstevemccarthy

I love illustration, and I love illustrators, but I think the last few years have been a bit rough on us, so Ive decided to start a new wee project.

A response to the world as it is. The Illustrated Dispatch is a simple idea - gather groups of artists together, to document events, festivals, concerts, and anything else, to editorialise the world at large, in as many perspectives as possible.

I've done stuff like this before, this times no different, it will be sporadic and unpredictable, but I have a feeling there's an entire generation of creative minds out there, not interested in sitting in front of a computer for the rest of their professional lives. I think those perceptive and creative amongst us can offer something more interesting and immediate than any robot could.

I'll post more about this in the coming weeks, like the first trial run on Saturday May 16th in collaboration with @ilfdublin who have been incredibly supportive of the project

If you're interested in taking part in something like this please comment below!

And please share this post with anyone who might be, I'm not entirely convinced posting to Instagram works anymore!

P.s. I also attached some loose sketches of future aspirations for the project

Love you bye xoxo by @mrstevemccarthy

Had the rare pleasure of co hosting a Halloween Exquisite-Corpse-workshop with Mis hermanas @erikadraws & @flavia_zdrago , organised by Erika and graciously hosted by Rebecca and Maria from the British Library ( which is a very important and prestigious library ) All three of us were extremely mature and did NOT ( probably )spend all day messing, and making weird and gruesome creatures with children and their adults! 🎃 by @mrstevemccarthy

Sharing some of the readings and artwork created for Dee's memorial service, which are so special. 💖 by @mrstevemccarthy

We visited @mrstevemccarthy in his studio last week and it was full of whimsy and charm. Like the man himself. We're so excited for what's coming next from Steve - he's been nurturing a little book baby for some time and it's almost ready, almost finished. And it's the kind of book you pick up, read and think about for a long, long time after. ⭐ by @mrstevemccarthy

The Wilderness will cover the earth, it's relentless, unstoppable, it is always growing, gaining ground, resistance is futile, the wilderness will consume us ALL ❤️ #pumkinspice #sweatherweather #fallfashion #TheWildernessBook by @mrstevemccarthy

@anotherlovestoryfest tickets are on sale for 2022 which means I can share (one of) the posters I made for them last year.
.
It's been a profound privilege to make a piece of artwork for this incredible gathering each year, if you've been, then I don't need to tell why @killyonmanor has become the centre of the universe for many of us. Swipe left to wander through the years of posters.
