What a lovely afternoon spent with my sisters and cousins from London and Manchester, my aunty, and of course, Howard! ❤️

It was so special to see us all coming together from the maternal side of the Freer family, sharing stories, chats, giggles and making more special memories.

Distance may separate us, but the love, laughter and family bonds remain strong. There’s something truly special about coming together, reconnecting and picking up where you left off. 🥰❤️ by @mshyoungatheart

😇😈 A little bit of angel, a little bit of devil… and always unapologetically ME! ❤️🔥 Walking on the wild side, because life’s too short to always be an angel! A little mischief, a lot of laughter, and making memories along the way. 💃✨ #LivingMyBestLife by @mshyoungatheart

🍂🎃 Autumn time and pumpkins galore! 🎃🍂

A lovely autumn day at Attwell Farm Park, enjoying all the glorious autumn colours 🍁🧡 — and very warm sunshine for October

Pumpkins, cosy autumn vibes and plenty to see… definitely feeling the season! 🎃🍂☕️ by @mshyoungatheart

4 years later… 🗓️⏳👣

Still navigating life solo and ticking countries off the list. 🌍✈️

Sept 2022 — New York 🇺🇸
Sept 2026 — Bucharest 🇷🇴

Four years can bring so many changes. You develop health issues, there are ups and downs, and sometimes navigating those things alone can be hard.

But along the way, I’ve learnt the importance of having a small, well-chosen group of friends. ❤️ Friends from different backgrounds and cultures, each bringing their own experiences, perspectives, laughter and support. They are all special in their own different ways.

And, of course, there’s my own very special family — my boys, daughters-in-law and my beautiful grandchildren, who bring so much love and joy into my life. ❤️

And my parents and sister, who are part of the story too.

Four years on, I’m still learning, still growing, still finding my way… and still putting those little pins in the map. 📍🌍

Solo, but never truly alone. ❤️ by @mshyoungatheart

Three ladies in their 60s, plenty of walking, lots of laughs, a few “where are we going?” moments 😂, beautiful villages, mountain views, castles, cable cars, trains, drinks and memories we’ll be talking about for ages. 🥂

Romania, you’ve certainly given us some stories to tell! ✨

Libearty Bear Sanctuary. This is one of the cubs I adopted called Lucia

For Louis Arthur Mary & Earl 🐻🐻🐻🐻 by @mshyoungatheart

Trip to Romain part 4 The day we went to see the Bears at Libearty Bear Sanctuary.

In 1998 a Romanian woman, Cristina Lapis, saw 3 bears in a small cage outside a restaurant in central Romania where they were used to attract customers. She later found more bears used in a similar way in other areas of the country. Her dream was to rescue these distressed animals and to change public attitudes to stop this cruel and illegal exploitation of one of Romania’s magnificent native animals.

Now that dream is being realized, with over 100 bears enjoying a new life in the Libearty Bear Sanctuary on 69 hectares of oak and hazel forest in the Carpathian Mountains above the Transylvanian town of Zarnesti.

Most of the bears living in the sanctuary were found suffering in small and rusted cages around the country by @mshyoungatheart

🇷🇴 PART 3 – BRAȘOV 🇷🇴

We arrived in beautiful Brașov early Sunday afternoon, found our apartment, dumped the cases and headed out to explore.

A Sunday market, delicious corn soup 🌽🥣 J & M had fluffy truffle scramble eggs and then off on our walking tour around the old town.

Next stop… the cable car! 🚠 Up to the top for the most incredible panoramic views across Brașov. Absolutely spectacular! 😍

We grabbed some food at the restaurant at the top — not quite sure what we were eating 😂 — but the views more than made up for it!

Then back down the mountain in the darkness, with Brașov all lit up below us. ✨

Back at the apartment: nightcaps, telly, a bit of line dancing 💃😂 and plenty of laughs before bed.

Another brilliant day, another adventure and lots of memories made. ❤️🇷🇴

Brașov, you were beautiful! 🥰 by @mshyoungatheart

🇷🇴 Romania Adventure – Day Two | Bucharest to our next destination ✈️🚂

After arriving in Bucharest the day before, it was time to negotiate our train tickets to our next destination. Easier said than done! 😂

Despite our best attempts at translating and communicating with the ladies at the ticket desk, they weren’t exactly the most helpful or welcoming… so it was three ladies in their sixties, armed with Google Translate and determination, trying to work out where we were going! 🤣

Eventually, we secured our three tickets… although one of us had somehow been booked three carriages away from the other two! 🤦‍♀️😂 But nothing was going to stop us.

Next challenge: finding somewhere to leave our luggage. Cue another round of laughter and three women trying to work out a very complicated luggage locker machine! 😅 There really wasn’t much English translation, so we just pressed buttons and hoped for the best!

We had a wander around Bucharest, decided the electric bikes were probably best left for another day 🚲😂, and with tiredness setting in, headed off to find our first accommodation.

And WOW… what a surprise! 😍

From the outside, the area looked a little tired and shabby, but step inside and it was like walking into another world. The decor was absolutely stunning! ✨

Then came the lift… 😳😂

An ancient little lift that looked like it had sailed straight off the Titanic! 🚢 One of us — poor Jackie — actually got stuck in it! 😱 Safe to say, none of us were in a hurry to use it again!

By now it was late, and everywhere seemed to be closing around 9pm on a Saturday, so we found ourselves a little corner snack and settled in for the night. 🥪🍷

Tired, slightly bewildered, but still laughing… because that’s what we do best! ❤️😂

Early start tomorrow for our next adventure…

Part 2 continues… 🇷🇴✨ by @mshyoungatheart

Part 1: Arriving in Bucharest

Three ladies in our sixties, friends for over 30 years, packed our bags, filled them with far too many snacks, and set off on a new adventure. ✈️❤️

An early start, very little sleep, and lots of chatting brought us to Bucharest – a place none of us had visited before. Feeling a little tired but excited to explore, we began planning our first day.

There was talk of electric bikes… but two members of the group (both with names beginning with J! 😅) were slightly less convinced about that idea, so we decided that lunch was a much safer option! 🍽️😂

And so our Romanian adventure began… by @mshyoungatheart

🚐🏔️ From Brașov to Bucharest… what a journey! 🇷🇴❤️

We travelled through the beautiful Romanian countryside, passing through charming little villages, winding roads and breathtaking mountain scenery along the way. 🌿🏡⛰️

Sometimes it’s the journeys between places that give you some of the best memories — watching the scenery change through the window and getting a glimpse of everyday life in Romania. ❤️

A beautiful way to finish our time in Brașov before heading back to Bucharest. 🇷🇴✨

Our trip was booked through Bran Castle Tour 🏰#🚐🏔️ From Brașov to Bucharest… what a journey! 🇷🇴❤️ by @mshyoungatheart

Exploring Bran Castle, ( aka Dracula castle ) slightly disappointed by the whole convoy a belt experience but on the up side surrounded by the beautiful Transylvanian countryside. It really does feel like stepping into another world! 🏰🌲

Lots of history, amazing views, plenty of laughs and memories made along the way. by @mshyoungatheart
