Started the day with breakfast at @pwmercantile and then a tour of her Lodge where she films some of her show. Then homeward….Almost 88 hours in the truck and 4580 miles driven, lots of walking, hiking, sweating and being out of breath, facing fears, laughter, sunburn, people watching, eating good food and a little not so good, relaxing, talking, and experiencing lot more adventures than I can count, and seeing beautiful areas and landscapes that I had only imagined seeing someday, and sadly seeing some things I wish were not real. But, what an adventure it has been!! Still, home is my favorite place, with all our kids and grandkids!! ❤️ ❄️🌅⛰️🌲🌳🪾👟🥾🐮🐹🦉🦆🐝🐴🦋🐞🦎🕸️🐂🐑🦨🦃🐉🪵🌷🌞🌝🌙🚲🥰😂🛻🧳 by @mslisahickerson
Travel day was sooooo windy but we made it to @frontierhotel and it is a really lovely! Too bad it’s just one night! Ate dinner @pwmercantile and the food was delicious, and service was excellent!! @thepioneerwoman you did an amazing job on every aspect!! We are snuggled in our super comfy bed and will see you tommorrow as we wrap up the last day of this fun road trip! 🛻🧳 by @mslisahickerson
Left Santa Fe and spent some time reliving the past! Route 66 is 100 years old this year and it has a special meaning for me. We visited Cadillac Ranch, and then had dinner at The Big Texan. Watched a few people do the 72 oz steak challenge. 0-3! The challenge is 72 oz steak, 3 shrimp, baked potato, salad and a roll in an hour. The record is Mollie Schuyler in 4.22 min. Not kidding! 🤢 by @mslisahickerson
Santa Fe today with lunch at The Shed for a prickly pear margarita I’ve thought about for 15 years, Loretto Chapel ( read about it) Native American jewelry shopping, sunset, and dinner at @cowgirlsantafe that was awesome! 😎 🌅 by @mslisahickerson
Relaxed day in Colorado… Durango, Silverton and Ouray. We drove the Million Dollar highway and I only got a few pics because of the cliffs/ heights. Silverton was a small mining town and Ouray was a little bigger and really 🆒! A great way to enjoy a beautiful day. by @mslisahickerson
We spent 2 hours driving through @monumentvalleytribaltours and it was even more than we expected. What an iconic place for John Wayne historic movies, Forrest Gump and others. Being right among these millions of year structures that have eroded into modern day art was a memory not soon forgotten. #navajonation by @mslisahickerson
Always loved the pics of Horseshoe Bend and it didn’t disappoint! Then on to @canyon_x_tours to a slot canyon that was the most incredible landscape I’ve ever seen. The guide, Brian, was awesome and the experience was so amazing, as was all the staff. by @mslisahickerson
E-bike adventure that was survived, steep hike to see a cool spot, and pool time. Good day! by @mslisahickerson
Started the day heading to @visitbrycecanyon to see some incredible landscapes! Then on to @zionnationalparkcom for a few days to experience e-bikes and walks in the “wilderness” lol! If you know me well, that is not happening. It’s walks on concrete or a well marked and maintained ( no wildlife included ) path. I don’t do any reptiles or wild animals. I have managed a lizard and a chipmunks sighting so far with no crying. Extremely high elevation roads were my nemesis today. Beautiful landscape photo ops were missed as I was laying across the console hiding my eyes, much like I did when at the Jaws experience years ago. ( It wasn’t pleasant for anyone… 🦈 stupid shark decided he should attack my row with me on the end.) Last pic is all you will see of a monstrous cliff, well the view of the opposite side. That’s how it goes with heights phobia. by @mslisahickerson
Day started with a ride through Radiator Springs #Cars . Then a stop by J*ack*ss Joe’s and you can see how that was… Scooby and Eugene the Alien came home with us. A stop at @goblinvalleystatepark and the hoodoos and then @capitalreefnationalpark and a hike back into a dry creek bed to see Pioneer Registry with signatures as early as 1800 that we could read. God rest their souls and for being tough enough to travel on a 🐴 much less a wagon. #puregrit I love modern vehicles! #dodgeramlaramie1500 by @mslisahickerson
@archesnps @canyonlandsnps @deadhorseranchstatepark what a beautiful day filled with incredible views! by @mslisahickerson
Started the day in Golden CO with snow and ice and semis needing tire chains to a beautiful patio view and a bald eagle sighting to end with a beautiful dinner sunset in Moab @redcliffslodgemoab by @mslisahickerson
