I AM MS.MUGWUMP
Mask of the Repressed Unconscious.

Costume designer & ritual artist.
Investigating the connections between literature, psychoanalysis, philosophy, and the post-human imaginary:
I build bodies that have no need for organs.
Second skins of latex, memory and oblivion.

This is my workshop.
This is my body becoming other.

Through costume I search for the voices choked by history.
I make them breathe, collapse, resurface.

The scenic ritual "Naked Lunch with Joan Vollmer" gives a body back to Joan.
To make her return as Mugwump: weaver of silences and possibilities.

A special thank you to:
Diana Del Franco @diana.delfranco for giving body to my imaginary character
Lea Celeste @everyday.xceleste for the fantastic prosthetic makeup
Carmine Covino @carmine_covino for the photos
Violetta Cottini @vyoleyt and Renato Grieco @___knn___ for adopting some of my creatures in their performances
Posto Segreto @postosegreto.it and Ubiskes3 @ubiskes3 for welcoming me during my early performance experiments
And above all to my big bro Massimiliano Chianese, for always being by my side on this journey started in 2023 by @msmugwump

Our guest artist, MsMugwump (@msmugwump), working name of Diana Magri, weaves together sonic and theatrical research, scenography, and corporeality in metamorphosis.

Rhizomes of field recordings, muffled voices, underground electronics, sonic bombs, and amplified silences. They move as if on a theatrical stage, slipping through decoding in a frantic attempt to fill ambivalent needs and desires. This is music that doesn’t comfort, but reveals. A sound that belongs to monstrous realms and fairy–tale creatures. Echoing Lucio Fulci, MsMugwump calls themself a small “genre terrorist”: a failed DJ, a failed musician, a failed body without organs.

Mūsų kviestinis(–ė) menininkas(–ė) MsMugwump, dar žinomas(–a) kaip Diana Magri, metamorfoze jungia garsinius ir teatrinius tyrimus, scenografiją ir kūniškumą.

Lauko įrašų raizginiai, prislopinti balsai, pogrindinė elektronika, garsiniai sprogimai ir sustiprintos tylos juda tarsi teatro scenoje, nepasiduoda aiškiam iššifravimui, beprotiškai bandydami patenkinti prieštaringus poreikius ir troškimus. Tai muzika, kuri ne guodžia, o atskleidžia. Garsas, priklausantis monstrų erdvėms ir pasakų būtybėms. Atkartojant Lucio Fulci, MsMugwump save vadina mažu(–a) „žanro maištininku(–e)“: nepasisekusiu(–ia) DJ, nevykusiu(–ia) muzikantu(–e), nepavykusiu kūnu be organų.

Atregzkime daugiau „Pasakiškose erdvėse“!

10 years Landescape
