Feminism has been dangerously simplified.

Too often, when people hear the word feminism, they reduce it to a debate about lifestyle choices, whether a woman should be a stay at home mother, whether she should pursue a corporate career, whether she should marry early or late. But that was never the heart of the movement.

The earliest feminist movements were not born out of a rejection of family or femininity. They were born out of exclusion women denied the right to vote, denied access to education, denied the right to own property, denied the ability to participate in public life. The struggle was never about dictating how women should live; it was about ensuring women had the freedom to choose how they live.

Today, that struggle is still painfully real in many parts of the world.

When we speak about feminism, we must remember the girls in Afghanistan who are barred from classrooms simply because they are female. Since the return of the Taliban to power in 2021, millions of girls have been excluded from secondary and higher education not because of lack of ability, but because of their gender.

Feminism is about the girl who is told education is not for her.

It is about the child who is forced into marriage before she even understands what marriage means.

It is about the young girl whose body becomes a battleground for cultural control, whose dreams are silenced before they can even form.

It is about the millions of girls around the world who are treated not as individuals with rights and dignity, but as property to be controlled.

Feminism, at its core, is not hostility toward men, nor is it an attempt to erase traditional roles. It is the insistence that a woman’s humanity must never be conditional.

It is the belief that a girl’s future should not be determined by her gender.

That she should be able to learn, to speak, to lead, to choose freely and safely.

So when feminism is mocked, trivialized, or reduced to internet arguments about who pays the bill on a date, we risk forgetting what the movement has always been about: dignity, safety, and opportunity for women whose voices are still unheard. @unicef_nigeria @plan_nigeria

I didn’t become an advocate because it sounded good.
I became one because I couldn’t ignore what I was seeing.

I saw girls my age being told their dreams were too big.
I saw children denied education like it was a privilege, not a right.
I saw voices silenced, futures decided, and injustice normalized.

And something in me refused to be quiet about it.

So this is not just a page.
This is not just content.

This is where I speak about the things people are uncomfortable to confront.
This is where I question systems, challenge norms, and amplify voices that are often ignored.

I don’t advocate for one issue.
I advocate for people. For dignity. For fairness. For a world that makes sense.

Some posts will make you think.
Some will make you uncomfortable.
Some might even challenge what you believe.

But that’s the point.

Because change doesn’t come from silence.
And it definitely doesn’t come from comfort.

This is just the beginning.

For many children, the desire to learn is there, but poverty, unpaid school fees, lack of books, uniforms, and basic learning materials can become barriers to staying in school.

That is why we created the Stay in School Initiative by Odila Foundation.

Bridging the gap between children and quality education.

Through this initiative, we don’t just ask, “How can we help?” We ask, “Why does this problem exist and what can we change?” We advocate for the removal of the financial, social, and structural barriers that prevent children from accessing and remaining in quality education.

We support children with school fees, books and stationery, uniforms, school bags, socks, sandals, and other essential learning needs, because every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Now, we need you.

You can sponsor a child, provide learning materials, support school fees, or provide essential school items.

Together, we can remove the barriers that keep children out of school.

Be the reason a child stays. Be the reason they keep learning. 💚

Pad & Purpose wasn’t just about distributing pads. It was about becoming the elder sister some girls never had. ❤️

As a youth advocate, I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer with different organisations and lead community initiatives, and one thing I’ve consistently noticed is how many girls still lack access to accurate information about menstrual health.

For some, it’s not just about not having sanitary products. It’s about misinformation, unsafe menstrual practices, stigma, and the inability to ask questions without feeling embarrassed or judged. And in some communities, practices that can negatively affect girls health have simply become “normal.”

That’s why we took Pad & Purpose to two schools and a community hall in Badagry, to educate, listen, answer questions, and create a safe space where girls could learn about their bodies without shame.

But we also knew that not every girl would feel comfortable raising her hand and asking the questions she really wanted answers to.

So, we created the Elder Sister Pamphlet, a simple, easy to understand resource they could take home, revisit privately, and learn from at their own pace.

There is something powerful about understanding how decisions made in rooms far beyond our immediate reach shape the realities people experience every day.

That curiosity has drawn me to diplomacy, advocacy, public policy and global affairs, not simply as subjects of interest, but as spaces where meaningful change can begin.

And perhaps that is why I will always have something to say about the world. 🌍⚖️ taken in United Nations Headquarters by @_justdannielle

YOUTH ADVOCACY AND INCLUSION DUMP!✊🏾
The future is being shaped today. Young people should be part of shaping it. From education to climate change, employment, technology, peace and development, young people will inherit the outcomes of choices we have little or no voice in making.

That is why youth inclusion cannot be reduced to inviting young people into rooms. It means giving us a seat at the table, listening to our perspectives, and trusting us with meaningful responsibility.

We should move beyond celebrating the potential of young people and start creating systems where that potential can influence policy, shape communities and drive change.

Nothing about our future should be decided without us having a voice in it.

The moment something breaks your heart, your first instinct is to post. But Amnesty International Nigeria taught me that passion without verification can hurt the very people you’re trying to protect.
Every post carries weight. Every story belongs to a real person. Handle it responsibly.
