First week of Ellie’s pre-season: done—and she’s off to a great start. 🎾

We’re so happy to have her here, putting in the work on court and becoming part of our tennis family. And when she has a little free time? You’ll find her playing with the kids or jumping into a game of Dingles with our members.

That’s what makes this place special: big goals, good people, and a lot of love for the game. So proud of the work we’re doing together, and excited for what’s ahead. Here’s to a pre-season full of hard work, good people, Here’s to a pre-season full of hard work, good people, and plenty of tennis—which, as you can imagine, we love! 🎾🤍🙏🏻 #EllieSchoppe #TennisPreseason #TennisLife #mariamoyatennisacademy #WomenInTennis

We’re excited to welcome professional tennis player Ellie Schoppe to Nosara for her pre-season at Maria Moya Tennis Academy. 🎾🌴

Ellie reached a career-high ranking of No. 565 in the world, competed at No. 1 for Florida State University, and achieved an NCAA individual ranking of No. 33.

During her time with us, Ellie will follow a complete high-performance program combining tennis training, mindset, fitness, physiotherapy, nutrition and recovery. She will also spend some time coaching and sharing her professional experience with our academy community.

We are selecting four of Costa Rica’s top male and female players to join Ellie on court as training and hitting partners for selected sessions in Nosara.

Elite players interested in this opportunity can contact us via DM.

A new chapter begins. Let’s work. 🔥 @ellieschoppe

Dream life, cute by @mta_nosara

Sunsets aren’t always meant to be caught at the beach. 🌅 🎾@mta_nosara by @mta_nosara

Some friendships become part of the architecture of our lives. They witness who we were when the dream was still fragile, and somehow remain present as we grow into the person we once hoped to become.

Brook was there when I opened my very first tennis academy. Since then, life has taken us to different places, and we’ve found each other again in different corners of the world. This time, at the US Open—surrounded by the sport that first connected us and has shaped so much of my life.

Tennis has never been only about winning matches. It teaches us discipline, resilience, humility, and how to keep showing up. But perhaps its greatest gift is community: the people who believe in us at the beginning, celebrate how far we’ve come, and remind us that no meaningful journey is ever built alone.

Sharing this moment with a friend who knew me before so many of these dreams became real feels incredibly special. Grateful for the miles traveled, the years between us, and the beautiful way genuine connections continue to find their way home. Love you big dear friend! 🎾❤️🙏🏻 @bjkrizbai by @mta_nosara

Some places don’t inspire you because they are beautiful.

They inspire you because they make you feel small—in the best possible way.

Thanks to my dear friend Christoph, I had the privilege of playing real tennis at the Royal Tennis Court at Hampton Court Palace, a court that has been alive for almost 500 years.

Think about that.

For centuries, people have walked through the same doors, stood on the same floor, felt the same anticipation before the first serve, and left having learned something about the game—and about themselves.

The rackets have changed. The balls have changed. The world has changed. Yet if Henry VIII walked back onto this court today, he would still recognize the game.

But the pursuit of mastery hasn’t.

There is something profoundly humbling about realizing that we are only temporary custodians of a sport that will outlive all of us. We don’t own the game. We simply have the privilege of contributing our chapter before passing it on to the next generation.

That thought stays with me.

The greatest players are not those who believe they have mastered tennis. They are the ones who never stop being students of it. Curiosity outlasts talent. Humility outlasts success.

Walking off this court, I didn’t just feel connected to history. I felt connected to every person who has ever fallen in love with this extraordinary game.

That, to me, is the real legacy of tennis.

And for that, I am profoundly grateful.

There’s something sacred about Wimbledon.

The history. The grass. The traditions. The quiet reverence before every point. It feels less like a sporting event and more like a place where excellence is honoured.

But what moves me most is how brutally honest tennis is.

There’s nowhere to hide. No teammates to carry you. No excuses that survive the scoreline. Every rally reveals something about your character. Every point asks the same question: who are you when things stop going your way?

In tennis, as in life, it’s rarely the strongest or even the most talented who ultimately prevail. More often, it’s the one who can stay present under pressure, embrace discomfort, recover from setbacks, and refuse to let the mind surrender before the body does.

That’s what makes this game such a profound teacher. It rewards discipline over emotion, patience over impulse, humility over ego. It teaches that resilience is built one point at a time.

Feeling incredibly grateful to experience Wimbledon in person. To witness this level of mastery, to be surrounded by so much history, and to reflect on the truth that greatness is rarely dramatic—it’s usually the accumulation of thousands of quiet decisions made well.

Some lessons belong far beyond the court.

Standing next to Toni Nadal is more than a photo; it is a reminder of why I started Maria Moya Tennis Academy.

I have always believed in learning from the very best: those who build excellence through dedication, resilience, and real results.

It was wonderful to meet Toni during his visit to Costa Rica, a country he clearly loves, and to share a conversation about tennis, values, and player development.

Thank you, Toni, for your time and insights. Moments like these inspire us to keep raising the bar for every player who walks onto our courts.

In the heart of Rome, where the clay of the Foro Italico meets centuries of history, I stand at the men’s finals of the Italian Open. The eternal city has a way of underscoring that true mastery is never static—it evolves, much like the game we love.
Since I was a child, competing in tournaments across continents, tennis has been my greatest teacher: discipline forged in long rallies, resilience earned between points, and an insatiable curiosity sharpened by every new surface, strategy, and generation of athletes. As the founder and owner of my academy, I now coach players around the world while remaining a lifelong student of the game—constantly studying its shifting rhythms, tactical innovations, and the profound human stories unfolding on court.
There’s something beautifully intellectual about tennis: a blend of physical artistry, psychological warfare, and real-time problem-solving that mirrors life itself. Standing here, watching the pros navigate these battles, I’m reaffirmed in why I fell in love with this sport—and why I never stop traveling to chase its next chapter.
Tennis is never just a game. It’s a lifelong pursuit of excellence. ❤️🎾🙏🏻 #gratefulthankfulblessed by @mta_nosara

I am so grateful to see more girls joining our academy❤️🎾
A growing number of female players is transforming everything—for them and for the community we’re building. Girls who play tennis consistently develop not only technical skills and athleticism but also strategic thinking, emotional resilience, and self-confidence that extend far beyond the court.
Research consistently shows that girls who participate in sports have higher self-esteem, healthier body image, stronger leadership abilities, and better academic outcomes. They learn to handle pressure, embrace healthy competition, and lift one another up—experiences that shape them into capable, empowered women.
We coach with purpose: to equip every girl who steps onto our courts with the belief in herself, the courage to push her limits, and the certainty that her voice and her strength matter.
The more girls we welcome, the stronger we all become.

🌟 Happy Thanksgiving from all of us! 🧡
I woke up this morning thinking about how lucky I am, and honestly? Every single one of you is the reason. You—the little ones who still run to hug my legs when you make your first rally, the teenagers who trust me with your dreams, the adults who show up to practice just because these courts feel like home, the parents who hand me their kids with that look that says “I trust you”… you have no idea what that does to my heart.
Today, my heart is full of gratitude for each and every one of you—our incredible tennis family. Thank you for walking through our courts with your smiles, your energy, your trust, and your love for this beautiful game. You make every practice, every lesson, and every moment on (and off) the court so special. You are the reason this academy feels like home.
I’m so grateful for the laughter, the effort, the high-fives, and the community we’ve built together. Today and every day, thank you for letting me be part of your lives. Thank you for making mine so full.
Wishing you a day filled with love, delicious food, and the warmth of the people who matter most.
With all my gratitude,
