This week we’re going to pray for the Gorani, a small ethnic group who live in the mountains of southeastern Europe, especially in the Gora region of Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia, and Serbia. They are a South Slavic people, and most Gorani are Muslim. Current estimates place their total population at around 39,000, although the exact number is difficult to determine. Only a very small number are estimated to be evangelical Christians. The Bible is available in Serbian, a language related to the variety spoken by the Gorani, along with audio and other Christian resources. Yet very few Gorani follow Jesus. Their Muslim faith and cultural identity are closely connected, and the Gorani are still considered an unreached people group. We should pray for the gospel to reach Gorani communities and for Christians to have opportunities to build genuine friendships and share the message of Jesus. So this week, let’s pray for the Gorani. Pray that people would encounter the Bible and understand who Jesus is. Pray for Christians who have opportunities to build relationships with Gorani people and share the gospel with them. Pray that God would raise up Gorani believers who can explain Jesus to their own families and communities. And pray that God would begin building a healthy church among the Gorani. by @mthopebiblecamp
This week we’re going to pray for the Balinese, the people who are native to the island of Bali in Indonesia. There are about 3.8 million Balinese people, and about 95% of them are Hindu. Balinese Hinduism is a little different from what you might picture when you think of Hinduism because it has been mixed with older local beliefs about spirits, ancestors, and the spiritual world. Religion is woven into everyday life—families visit temples, make offerings, and take part in religious ceremonies as part of normal village life. There are Christians among the Balinese, but they are still a very small minority. The Bible has been completely translated into the Balinese language for more than 30 years. Christians have been working among the Balinese for a long time. The first Balinese people were baptized in 1931, and today there are established Balinese churches with pastors, congregations, schools, and ministries across the island. Even after all those years, though, only a small percentage of Balinese people follow Jesus. The Bible is available, churches are present, and Christians have continued sharing the gospel, but most Balinese people still do not believe in Jesus. So this week, let’s pray for the Balinese. Pray for the churches that are already there—that God would help them grow in faith and reach their own communities with the gospel. Pray for Balinese Christians who are explaining who Jesus is to friends and family who have grown up in a different religious tradition. Pray that people would read the Bible in their own language and understand who Jesus really is. And pray that God would raise up more Balinese believers who can reach the millions of people around them who still don’t know Him. by @mthopebiblecamp

This week we’re going to pray for the Kolta, a people group in India with more than 800,000 people. Most Kolta live in eastern and central India, especially in the states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. They are Hindu, and their main language is Chhattisgarhi. The complete Bible is available in their language, so Kolta people can read and hear the story of Jesus for themselves. Even so, there are still very few evangelical Christians among them. Having the Bible available is important, but people still need someone to help them understand it and show them what it means to follow Jesus. The Kolta live in a part of India where Hinduism is closely connected to everyday life and culture. People grow up surrounded by Hindu beliefs, festivals, temples, and ideas about God and worship. For many Kolta people, following Jesus would mean hearing a very different answer to some of life’s biggest questions—who God is, why we’re here, and how we can be made right with Him. Christians are working in India, but the Kolta are still considered an unreached people group, so there is a great need for the gospel to take root among them. So this week, let’s pray for the Kolta. Pray that people would read or hear the Bible in their own language and understand who Jesus is. Pray for Christians reaching out to Kolta communities—that God would give them wisdom and opportunities to build genuine relationships. And pray that God would raise up Kolta believers who can share Jesus with their families, villages, and communities. There are more than 800,000 Kolta people, and we want to pray that many of them would come to know Jesus. by @mthopebiblecamp

We had a great time at our Men’s Harvest Dinner at Mt. Hope this past weekend! 🍂 A big thanks to Pastor Chris Johnson from Winchester CCCU for coming out and sharing God’s Word with us! He challenged us to “pick up our corner of the mat” and invest in the next generation, using the story of the four men who carried their friend to Jesus. What a great reminder, especially for us as men, that we all have a part to play! That’s a big part of what camp ministry is all about—coming alongside young people, investing in their lives, and doing our part to point them to Jesus! Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a great evening! by @mthopebiblecamp

This week we’re going to pray for a people group called the Sankaran, who live in Guinea, in West Africa. There are about 125,000 to 130,000 Sankaran people, mostly living around the Faranah and Kouroussa areas of Guinea. Many live in rural villages and make their living through farming and other local trades. The Sankaran speak their own language, called Sankaran Maninka. Almost all Sankaran people are Muslim, and according to current people-group research, only about 0.01% are Christians. They have a few portions of the Bible in their language, but they don’t have the whole New Testament or Bible yet. But there is some really encouraging news. There are a few Sankaran Christians, and Christians from neighboring Sierra Leone are now starting Bible discovery groups among the Sankaran. A translation of more of the Bible into their language is also being prepared. That means people are beginning to have opportunities to hear God’s Word in a language they understand. So we’re praying for a people who still have very little access to the gospel, but where God is already opening some doors. So this week, let’s pray for the Sankaran. Pray for the few Sankaran Christians—that God would protect them and give them courage to live for Jesus even when it’s difficult. Pray for the Bible translation and the Bible discovery groups, that God’s Word would spread through villages and families. And pray that God would open the hearts of the Sankaran to Jesus, and that the small number of believers would grow into healthy churches that can reach their own people. by @mthopebiblecamp
