Moody spaces don't happen by accident.

The secret to creating a space that feels luxurious, intimate, and inviting? It's all in the layers of lighting.

In this swanky bar, the rich, dark oak millwork sets the tone, but it's the carefully layered lighting that truly brings the space to life.

Ambient lighting creates a soft, inviting glow.

Accent lighting highlights the beautiful textures, architectural details, and richness of the dark oak.

Task lighting adds function without compromising the atmosphere.

When lighting is thoughtfully layered, it creates depth, dimension, and drama. It transforms a beautiful room into an experience.

Because great design isn't just about what you see. It's about how a space makes you feel.

Which lighting layer makes the biggest difference to you—ambient, accent, or task? And would you bring this bold, moody feeling into your own home?

Share your thoughts in the comments—I’d love to hear what atmosphere you’re drawn to.

A closer look inside our ceramics studio, where every piece begins with skilled hands, careful attention to detail and plenty of time spent getting the finish just right.
In this reel, Jasmine catches up with the ceramics team to see what they’re working on and to get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the processes involved in creating our ceramic lighting. From shaping and refining each piece to preparing it for the next stage of production, there’s a lot of craftsmanship behind every finished light.
Because so much of the process is done by hand, each ceramic piece has its own subtle character and individuality — something we think makes the finished product even more special.

A little behind the scenes in our painting department 🎨
We caught up with Paddy to see what goes into creating the finishes that bring our lights to life — from preparation and priming to colour, coating and those all-important finishing touches.
It’s a process that takes skill, patience and plenty of attention to detail, especially when working across different metals, colours and bespoke pieces.
Another look at the people and craftsmanship behind every Mullan Lighting piece. 💚

We had the pleasure of chatting with Liz from @madaboutmonaghan about Mullan, its history, and the remarkable journey of the village over the years.

From a once-derelict village to the home of an international lighting company, Liz reflects on the vision, hard work and determination that helped bring Mullan back to life.

It was lovely to hear her perspective on the story of Mullan Lighting, the revival of the village, and the impact that something created here in Monaghan can have around the world. 💚

As Liz puts it, Mullan Lighting and Mullan Village represent so much of what is special about Irish people — vision, hard work and determination.

Made in Mullan 💡 Turn the sound up and listen to the Factory at work! There’s something really satisfying about the sounds of a workshop in full swing - metal being shaped finishes being applied, ceramics being handled and each piece gradually coming together. A lot happens before a light leaves Mullan, and this is just a small part of the process #mullanlighting #madeinmullan #behindthescenes by @mullanlighting
