Yesterday we laid you to rest … yesterday was the hardest day of my life.. letting you go. You looked so beautiful. You were my everything. Your friends came up to me hugging me and saying how she always spoke about me… I miss your voice , I miss your energy. I miss your love ….

Ps. Big T and I had to take a picture of your kitty 🐈‍⬛ so we could get matching tattoos. It was very sealed lmao but knew you’d approve.

Wild Soul

I’m a wild soul—
or at least, that’s what I’m learning to be.

I never learned better.
I only learned to hide,
to disappear when fear came knocking,
to make myself smaller
so no one would have to feel threatened by me.

I know no better
than what I was shown.

Anger.
Fear.
Silence.

Make yourself small.
Keep your head down.
Don’t speak too loud.
Don’t look them in the eyes.

Standing up for yourself
was something to be punished for.
They wanted me quiet,
obedient,
small enough to control—

just another pawn
on a board I never asked to play.

Keep your head low.
Keep your eyes away from their gaze.
Know your place.

You’re nothing more
than the firstborn.
Nothing more
than a lesson to learn from.

And the hardest lesson of all
was learning that sometimes
the person who gave you life
is not the person
who knows how to love you.

“I gave you life,”
she says,
with a smile that makes it sound
like I owe her my forgiveness,
my gratitude,
my grace.

But life is not a debt.

And I will no longer
carry the weight of a mother
who made me feel like a burden.

So from this day forward,
I release you.

I erase every connection,
every expectation,
every version of me
that still begged to be your daughter.

You are no longer
a mother in my story.

Just a chapter
I survived.

A memory
I no longer need to worship.

A figment
of a past
I refuse to live inside.

And now—

I hold the door open.

Not for you.

For me.

I walk through it
leaving behind the fear,
the anger,
the shame,
the little girl
who thought she had to stay small
to deserve love.

My past does not define me.

The blood I carry
does not determine who I become.

I am not the things
that were done to me.

I am not the names
I was called.

I am not a pawn.

I am not a victim.

I am free.

I am me.

And for the first time,
I am finally learning
how to take up space.
