Myrsini Aristidou’s "Hold Onto Me," winner of the World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award at Sundance 2026, has been chosen as the first-ever Best International Feature Oscar submission for Cyprus.

Aristidou’s feature debut premiered in the World Cinema Dramatic competition at Sundance earlier this year; it tells the story of a young girl named Iris who comes back into contact with her estranged father Aris shortly after running amok in her hometown, alongside her older friend Danae.

Wow! What a journey…
Words can’t quite describe the feelings of these past days, weeks, years!

Hold Onto Me comes from a very personal place. There were moments along the way when it felt truly difficult to keep going…Moments of doubt and vulnerability. Yet we made it here with your love and support 🙏😌

Winning the Audience Award at Sundance still feels unreal. To have this story, this film, held and embraced by all of you means the world to me and leaves me feeling deeply humbled.

Thank you to every single person who watched, felt, and connected with the film. Thank you for choosing to sit with it, to carry it with you, and to remind me why I fell in love with cinema in the first place.

With love and endless gratitude, I’m holding onto this moment as the film moves beyond me, now carried by all of you. Thank you. I love you ❤️ by @myrsiniaristidou
