Put some respect on my name, son. 📣😂❤️

In April, Auden participated in the Junior Docent program through his school and the Milwaukee Art Museum. He wrote a paper/poem and painted a recreation of his favorite artwork, On Duty, Not Driving by Milwaukee artist Reginald Baylor.

Afterwards, I jokingly told him that with my credentials as a fellow creative in Milwaukee, I could’ve probably had Mr. Baylor attend the presentation. Auden tried to play me by saying that if anybody could’ve made that happen, it would be his dad because he was more well-known in the city than me. 😒😂

NUTS!! But okay…bet.

I reached out to Mr. Baylor, who was not only honored to hear that Auden was inspired by his work, but gracious enough to invite our family to his studio. We got to learn about his journey as an artist, see works in progress, hear about his creative process, and Auden got the opportunity to read his paper to the artist who inspired it.

As parents, we were already so proud, but we believe in taking every opportunity to expose our son to what’s possible. There is power in meeting a successful Black artist from your own city and realizing that the people you look up to are real, reachable, and rooting for you too.

Thank you so much @reginaldbaylorstudio for your generosity, kindness, and the way you continue to inspire the next generation right here in Milwaukee and beyond. We are incredibly grateful for the experience and inspired by all that you do. ❤️ by @mystical_glow

8 years. What a victory. What an accomplishment.

I never saw healthy Black love growing up but we’re creating it for our son and most importantly, for ourselves.

Our love has carried us through storms, carried us through joy, carried us through life changes, and every time, brings us on out on top. Our love has transcended everything I’ve thought possible, every time.

What an incredible honor and blessing to have you as my life partner for 18 years now. But the 8 years of love, growth, and commitment in marriage has been and will continue to be my heart & soul’s engine 💖

Thank you for life’s most beautiful journey 💍👰🏽‍♀️🤵🏽‍♂️ by @mystical_glow
