The King’s Rain.

Rainy days in the Mara recently have offered me an opportunity to capture an image that I had never tried before. It required a lot of patience in order to create the image that I had in my head as I waited for around 3 hours for this male lion to shake the rain from his saturated mane and body. There were shakes before this moment but this was the one where our vehicle was positioned perfectly. It was epic to watch the entire Topi Pride in the rain, with the cubs playing and the shakes from the males making it even more special.

A male lion shaking the rain from his mane was the perfect concept to use for my first B&W image as the dark shadows from the lion contrast perfectly with the white light of the rain drops.

I have to say a huge thank you to @dileepanthikad and @warrier_remya for inspiring me to create an image like this. It is a pleasure learning from you both.

I can’t wait to try to keep creating more special images like this. From now on I will always be seeking out unique images when the rain is pouring.

There are moments in the Mara that stay with you forever, and this was one of them. I spent the entire day at the river as the Great Migration truly announced its arrival—herds already pouring into the Maasai Mara and eventually making their way, gathering in immense numbers, edging closer and closer along the banks of the Mara River. From first light, there was a sense that something extraordinary was about to unfold.

The plains in-front us were alive with movement, stretching endlessly with more wildebeest still arriving. And the feeling was clear—this is just the beginning.

What followed was nothing short of epic. Crossing after crossing at different points all in a single day—one of the best days of river action I have ever witnessed. The herds surged forward in waves, driven by instinct, courage, and urgency. Some hesitated, others leapt without pause, and in those moments, chaos and survival played out in their rawest form.

You could feel the tension, the energy, the life of it all.

To be there and witness it felt like a rare privilege. Nature, completely unfiltered, powerful, and honest—an experience that is truly unforgettable. In a world that is now saturated with AI content, this footage, and the emotion felt while capturing it, is as real as it gets.

A huge thanks must go to @_.kyleworld for always finding the best position and enabling me to capture this footage.

The heart of the Topi Pride isn’t just in the hunt — it’s in how they raise and care for the next generation.

The females move as one, gently guiding their cubs across the fast-flowing river. In this sisterhood, every cub is guarded, nurtured, and taught by the pride — not just one mother.

They share the risks. They share the responsibility. They share the future.

This is the true strength of lions: their unity, their trust, and the powerful bond that keeps them all alive.

At Ishara, wellness is inseparable from the landscape—and few moments capture that better than the run made famous by @korisampson, circling the camp’s waterhole at first light. Warren Whitely—an @on partner and leading fitness expert—embraced the ritual as the misty air stayed cool and the horizon softened into gold. From the water came the resonant bellow of hippos, grounding every stride in the reality of the wild. This is Ishara’s uniqueness: a wellness destination where recovery is not curated apart from nature, but defined by it. #SeeTheSigns #IsharaMara by @mywildco

One of those mornings in the Mara that takes your breath away. A stunning male leopard on the prowl moves majestically along the Talek River, on a mission. The encounter was brief, but incredibly beautiful. 🐆✨

A successful hunt for the Paradise Pride, as they took down a fully grown male eland—a much needed meal for the hungry lionesses and their cubs. The pride feasted until dawn before resting, safe in the knowledge that their survival is assured for now.

With effortless power, Bella 2 hauls a full-grown male impala into the safety of the treetops. What makes this even more remarkable is that a male impala can weigh nearly twice as much as a female leopard — yet she accomplishes this feat with pure strength and instinct.

Leopards are true masters of survival, but their future depends on us. Protecting their habitat in the Mara is essential to ensure these elusive cats continue to thrive for generations to come. 🐆💚

The king of the savanna, captured in all his raw majesty. With a primal sound so deep and powerful it vibrates through your very soul, it is a true reminder of nature’s raw, untamed force.

But behind the awe lies a sobering truth — wild lion populations have declined by over 40% in recent decades. Habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict remain their greatest threats.

Lions play a vital role in maintaining the balance of their ecosystems — their survival is tied to the health of the wild itself. It’s our duty to protect them, to speak up and to support conservation efforts.

Conserve the wild before the roar fades forever.
