Directing Michelle Obamas documentary, BECOMING has been the greatest honor of my life. A privilege beyond words. I’m forever grateful to @netflix and every person who supported me in my filmmaking journey and prepared me for this opportunity.

A little clip from my conversation with @nadiahallgren, who shares what ultimately enticed her to want to make the @netflix documentary on Victoria Beckham.

If you can’t tell from the absolute glee that’s etched across my face, I am incredibly honored to have had the opportunity to sit down with Nadia to discuss her creative process, the films and their subjects, and more.

Nadia’s an Emmy-nominated filmmaker, director and cinematographer. Chances are, you’ve seen at least one of her documentaries on Netflix — Victoria Beckham, Becoming about Michelle Obama, Civil: Ben Crump, Pop Star Academy KATSEYE, After Maria and more. (And if you haven’t, I can’t recommend them enough. I’ve watched them at all, felt the ripple of emotion and humanity through each, and can attest to the power of her voice as a filmmaker).

When I was first approached to direct a series about forming a new girl group, what hooked me was the experiment: could talented young women without pro-level singing or dancing backgrounds transform into global superstars with the right guidance and mindset?

Watching KATSEYE absolutely SHINE at the #VMAs Sunday night answered that question with a resounding YES! 🏆✨

These incredible artists proved that with dedication, the right environment, and belief in yourself, you can achieve anything. So proud to have documented their journey! 🎬

Stream Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, only on @netflix and witness their incredible transformation!
