Kinda Chic to be sober and help others be that kind of Chic too! 😉

Sometimes the very things we go through in life become the journey that leads us to who we were always meant to be. ❤️🙏🏽
As a mother, there is something incredibly special about watching your child turn life's challenges into purpose.

I'm so proud of my son, Blaise, and the work he does at RISE, helping others find hope, healing, and a new beginning.
Our past doesn't have to define us. Sometimes it prepares us to make a difference in someone else's future.

And what a beautiful thing it is when your journey becomes someone else's hope!!

If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction and ready to take that first step toward recovery, I encourage you to visit RISE's website.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to heal, rebuild, and discover the life waiting for them. ❤️

One day at a time.

FANCONI APLASTIC ANEMIA - rare disease #thenandnow
What is it? Let me explain
Most people who meet my children would never know they live with a serious rare disease.
My children were diagnosed with (FA) in 2007, when they were just 12 & 16 years old. They showed no signs of having this illness. We were taken by surprise!
One of the hardest things for people to understand about FA is this:
They can look perfectly healthy on the outside while their bodies are fighting something very different on the inside.
Fanconi Anemia isn't simply "anemia." It's a rare inherited recesive gene disorder that affects the body's ability to repair its own damaged DNA.😢
One of the biggest concerns is the bone marrow—the factory inside our bones that produces our blood cells. In people with FA, that factory can gradually stop working properly ( think no back up stock if it were a store) This can lead to low red blood cells, white blood cells & platelets &, in some people, eventually SEVERE bone marrow failure.
FA doesn't stop with the blood.
It can affect bones, hormones, otherorgans & carries a significantly increased lifetime risk of certain cancers. The effects are different for every person with FA, which is another reason the disease can be difficult for others to understand. This disease is EXTREMELY complex.
For example, my daughter is now 31, yet the condition of her bones has been compared to those of someone in their late 70s.😭
You wouldn't know that by looking at her.
And that's really why I wanted to share this.
Not every serious illness has a "look."
My children have lived with this diagnosis for nearly 20 years. They have grown up, lived their lives & done so many normal things while also carrying something most people around them cannot see. Rare disease also brings mental anguish & endocrine issues.
So when you meet someone who appears healthy, remember that you may have absolutely no idea what their body is dealing with behind the scenes.
Invisible doesn't mean insignificant. ❤️
I'm incredibly proud of the strength & resilience my kids have shown throughout their lives with FA. It is not at all an easy disease to live with.
Treatable, not curable. by @nancyfinneganmua

God, thank You for giving my hands the ability to create what my heart feels and my soul needs. What a blessing to turn a blank page into something that didn't exist until my hands touched it.

Grateful to have discovered I can use my hands to fulfill my soul. 🙏🏽🥹

🎨 I would love to be your watercolor Artist. I accept commissions and have prints for sale at my studio as well as originals.
Art is a gift those choose that have big hearts and appreciate creativity. This holiday season or for any reason, please allow me to create something meaningful for you or for you to gift.

I specialize in pets, portraits and athletics. Although, I think I can proudly say, I am pretty darn good at buildings and structure too. 🙌🏽
Run it by me, I'll paint it! Painting brings me joy & God given talent that I want to use.
