I’m 46 today. These past few days have been tremendous. All these aha moments rushing in. The Latinx Storytellers Conference capturing my heart. My big takeaway is that no one should be reduced to a bucket, a thing, one identity. I finally felt at home and like I belong in that magical conference. It was like a portal. The words of Jaquira Diaz blowing me away about the American dream not really existing. The words of Alejandra Campoverdi talking about legacies and over achieving, being the bridge. This is the year that I stop chasing after this and that. I’m going to do what I want! This will be the year that I read in Spanish and devote myself to strengthen that muscle. This is will be the year that I don’t forget to live. That song, Me Olvide de Vivir is haunting me. It’s been that theme of my life. This year will be different. This year I will write. by @nanibookroom

This summer I’m taking inventory of my whole book collection. Books are scattered all over the house. They were mostly in the attic but I still didn’t have a good grasp of my home library. After working in multiple schools and literally bringing books from home to work and vice versa, this summer will be the one where I organize it all! I downloaded an app, BookBuddy (a recommendation from a friend) to help keep my collection on track. I’m most excited about one bookshelf that I’m naming nanibookroom! These will be the books that will guide me this upcoming year 24-25 and that I will attempt to read. #books #booklover #bookorganization #nanibookroom #bookbuddy by @nanibookroom

Had this amazing moment this week where I was featured in a promotional video about the important work that the @nationalbookfoundation does and the national book awards. I feel so honored to be a part of it! Link on my bio. Here is the time stamp: 1:02:01. It’s really an amazing video. by @nanibookroom

Day 1 of being off. Will attempt to read this. by @nanibookroom

An author visit that my students and I will never forget. We read big girl by @meccajamilah and it was magical. Thanks @humanitiesprep for hosting us especially @gramsudh who organized and made it happen. I couldn’t do this with @lambdaliterary. It’s means so much to us for making this author visit happen for our students. #biggirl #authorvisit by @nanibookroom

One of the few pictures I have of you. Miss you Claudine. Rest in peace. by @nanibookroom

Our new book at book club! by @nanibookroom

The teen press conference on Tuesday! I (with tons of help) managed to bring 23 students (most from @fannielouhs). It was magical. @nationalbookfoundation @humanitiesprep I started attending the teen press conference with bookworms, the book club I’ve led for 6 years at @humanitiesprep. And it’s extra special that we are still attending these readings together. This is the first time @nationalbookfoundation have the teen press conference in person since the pandemic started and it’s so good to be back at @92ndstreety by @nanibookroom

Added a little lending library in the cafeteria today. Long story but because of lack of space I have had to get rid of some bookshelves I had in my office. Really long story but my student in my book club said that sometimes good things come out of a difficult situation. Here is our very first lending library! Books that are written by us for us!!! by @nanibookroom

44 today. Another birthday. So much to be grateful for. Had the best day with @gramsudh. A special tarot reading, visited my parents, my new home which is a leap of faith and got some witchy items. My heart is full. by @nanibookroom

Just finished the kissing bug by Daisy Hernandez and I highly recommend it. So good. by @nanibookroom
