POSTS STORIES REELS

Most had never held a paintbrush.
Then the colour came.
No rules. No lessons in how art is supposed to look. Just hands that have spent a lifetime reading spoor, digging roots, shaping wood, following animals — suddenly leaving their own tracks across a canvas.
Collective art at the Wisdom Academy.

There is something extraordinary about watching an ostrich eggshell become a bead.
For the Ju/’hoansi, these small white circles are more than adornment. They belong to one of the oldest bead-making traditions on Earth 🌍 a practice stretching back tens of thousands of years across southern Africa.
Tiny pieces of shell, shaped by hand, carrying beauty, kinship, exchange and memory. by @nanofasaproject

At Jack’s Camp, the Wisdom Academy becomes the first fire.
A living place of learning, where San elders, master trackers, healers, craft makers, storytellers and cultural teachers gather to pass on what was never written, but always remembered.
Here, knowledge returns to the hands, the feet, the voice, the land.
Young San participants learn directly from their elders in the Kalahari itself — reading spoor, plants, animals, water, wind and silence. They learn the old games, the songs, the dances, the healing practices, the stories, the language, and the quiet intelligence needed to move through this ancient landscape with respect.
The Academy gives structure, dignity and livelihood to knowledge too long overlooked.
It is a place where elders are recognised as libraries.
Where culture is not displayed, but lived.
Where the next generation is invited back into the great remembering. by @nanofasaproject

A bow in the grass.
A quiver breathing beside it.
Nothing announces itself.
And yet, everything is there.
The curve of the wood remembers its tree.
The arrows carry wind, distance, animal paths
the hour when the land softens
and lets itself be read.
It looks like an object.
It is a way of knowing.
At the Wisdom Academy,
a tool is never separate from the world that made it..
it is where culture and nature
still move as one. by @nanofasaproject

At the Wisdom Academy, the Ju/’hoansi pass the art of spear making from hand to hand, drawing shape from found metal in the fire and fastening it to wood with the patience of those who remember that survival is also a form of poetry 🧡 by @nanofasaproject

The Wisdom Academy is a sanctuary for the Earth's memory, where Ju/’hoansi knowledge-holders protect ancient wisdom and restore ecosystems, proving that culture is conservation 👣🐾

For my beloved Ju/‘hoansi brother, !Ui Steve — a man who carried worlds between his hands and gave more than the world could hold 💔

For !Ui Steve
Brother of the heart of nature
There are people whose lives are rivers — they carry stories, languages, and light between worlds.
!Ui Steve was such a river.
He was the bridge between the Ju/’hoansi and the world beyond the Kalahari wind.
Through him, the oldest language on earth found its way into our hearts.
He carried words like embers, translating the silence of stars, the patience of tracking,
the laughter by the fire — so that others could understand. He changed my life, and the lives of all who met him. Everyone loved him, because he lived with an open hand.
He gave — as the Xaro teaches — not to possess, but to connect. And when the gift was not received in the spirit of the old way,
his great heart, too vast for the smallness of this world, broke. He leaves behind his wife, his sons and daughters, his grandchildren —
and all of us who walked beside him, guided by his quiet strength.
My daughter carries the name of his daughter,
a living thread between our families, a whisper of the belonging he helped us remember.
!Ui Steve was a brother of the heart of nature —
a man whose spirit lived in the rhythm of the wind,
in the footprints of antelope, in the songs of the fire.
He reminded us how to walk gently,
how to see properly — kxae=xaisi —
how to come home to the earth and to ourselves.
May his spirit now walk the wide pan, barefoot, without pain, among the ancestors who have known this sorrow before.
May we keep his words alive,
and may we remember that love this big
is never lost — it only changes form.
Rest in the Great Silence, brother.
We will keep walking in your footsteps.

In the Kalahari, every grain of sand is a page, every spoor a sentence.
The Ju/’hoansi still know how to read this ancient book — the art of tracking.
For them, it is not only survival, but a way of seeing: a dialogue with the invisible,
a language between human, animal, and spirit.
At the Wisdom Academy, this knowledge is being passed on —
a discipline of patience, intuition, and attention that protects both people and wildlife.
To track is to belong.
To follow the spoor is to protect the future 👣🐾 by @nanofasaproject

What looks like emptiness is a library.
The art of tracking is the Ju/’hoansi way of reading the living text of the land. At the Wisdom Academy @jackscampbotswana , this ancestral knowledge is passed on — one print, one gesture, one breath at a time.

A lesson in Bushmen animal sign language — this one, for giraffe: ǀǀoah.
Used for silent tracking and firelit storytelling, these gestures carry the weight of survival and the grace of memory.
Passed from elder to youth, hand to hand, story to sign — so it lives on

The Earth doesn’t speak in declarations.
She murmurs — in leaf-fall,
in wind over bone-dry pans,
in the silence before a lion’s roar.
We don’t need a day to celebrate her.
We need a life that doesn’t forget her 🌍🐾❤️ #earthday by @nanofasaproject

The Ju/‘hoansi aren’t just gatherers — they’re gardeners of the wild.
Tending the land not by changing it, but by knowing it.
At the Wisdom Academy, @jackscampbotswana, we learn by listening —
to ancient footsteps, quiet roots, and the wisdom that once shaped us all.
The Wisdom Academy isn’t a school.
It’s a return — to the kind of knowing we’ve forgotten.
