⠀ Kairos /ˈkī-räs/ noun the appointed time; the perfect moment when purpose meets preparation and everything that came before begins to make sense.👩🏾‍⚕️🩺🤍 by @nasyazuri
For Nasya Cooper, becoming a physician is about more than medicine. It’s about family, community and creating better healthcare experiences for women. Growing up, Cooper watched her mother build a career as a women’s health nurse practitioner and saw firsthand the impact that patient education and trust can have. Those experiences sparked her own interest in women’s health and eventually led her to explore how policies and healthcare systems shape health outcomes. After graduating from Langston University, Cooper spent two years in Morehouse School of Medicine’s Master of Science in Medical Sciences program before continuing into the MD program. She knew she wanted to remain in an HBCU environment and found a community at MSM that felt like an extension of the one she had already built. That community has also inspired Cooper to give back. Through First Look, she helps introduce students to opportunities in medicine and healthcare — an approach she describes as “lifting as I climb.” Now, as she prepares to receive her white coat, Cooper is thinking about the years of work, family support and perseverance that brought her here. “All those no’s, all those doubts in my mind, all led to this moment,” she said. “And now I can finally say I am student Dr. Nasya Cooper, ready to take on whatever there may be in front of me.” With a passion for women’s health and a commitment to serving her community, Cooper is ready for what comes next. Mark your calendars for Friday, September 18, and join us as Nasya and her classmates take this important step in their journey at Morehouse School of Medicine’s 42nd Convocation and White Coat & Pinning Ceremony. by @nasyazuri
