Still pinching myself… 🏆

I’m incredibly honoured to be named the 2026 Thought Leader of the Year at the Australian Accounting Awards last night.

This award means so much because it represents something I’ve spent years building the confidence to do… speaking up, challenging traditional thinking, sharing my experiences openly, and encouraging others to realise there isn’t just one way to build a successful accounting firm.

For a long time I was told I was too young, too outspoken, and that my ideas were too different. Today, being recognised for those very ideas feels incredibly special.

To everyone who has supported me along the way, my husband, my team, my clients, my community, the accountants I’ve had the privilege to mentor, and the people who have trusted me enough to be part of their journey, thank you. This award belongs to all of you too.

A huge thank you to @Xero not only for selecting me for their Xero Partner Advisory Council for a second term and for embracing my crazy ideas but for inviting me to join their table on the night and for their continued support of our profession.

Thank you to @myob the major sponsor of the awards, for supporting and celebrating innovation and leadership within the accounting industry.

Thank you to @accountantsdaily for hosting the awards and being a key voice in our industry.

To my fellow finalists and those who have been in this category in prior years, especially the incredible people who inspired me when I was starting my own firm, it was an honour to be recognised alongside you.

Here’s to continuing to challenge the status quo, share ideas, and help more accountants build businesses and lives on their own terms. ❤️

Thank you to my glam squad who made me feel like a supermodel:

This deserves a spot on my grid ❤️❤️

This year has been all about personal growth — choosing my health, my mindset, my boundaries, and showing up for me first.

And funny enough… when I stopped forcing the business side, everything started falling into place anyway.

Standing here at the TikTok Awards feels like a little reminder that when you invest in yourself, the rest follows.

Proud of the girl who decided to make herself the priority 💖✨

Thank you to @xero for the opportunity to share my very personal but empowering story on stage at #Xerocon.

Thank you to each and every one of you who showed up to support and listen.

Some key takeaways for those who missed my session:

- you are the boss of your future

- you can do hard things

- the ideal firm is the one you want to build not the one you think you should build

- everyone is dealing with something so always be kind and don’t judge

- your authentic self is more relatable than you pretending to be someone you are not

Thank you to each and every person who came and told me that my story resonated with them and that it has given them the strength to move forward. ❤️

“Compliance is dead.” Heard that one before? 👀

Guy Pearson, co-founder and Executive Chairman of Ignition, sees the line between compliance and advisory getting blurrier.

Calculating the tax bill is becoming more automated.

Helping a client understand it, prepare for it and work out how to pay it? That’s where the conversation matters.

Offered partnership at 24. Said no.

Guy Pearson, co-founder and Executive Chairman of Ignition, could see cloud accounting coming and wanted to build a firm for the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The opportunity was good. He just wanted something different.

A reminder that the career move everyone celebrates might not be the one you actually want.

You can build your own tools with AI.

But who fixes them when you’re on holiday? 👀

Guy Pearson’s advice for starting an accounting firm: pick your niche, choose tools that suit your clients and think carefully about what you build yourself.

Because software subscriptions also buy you support, reliability and the ability to switch off.
