POSTS STORIES REELS

Last week I realized it’s been three months since I taught a regular weekly group yoga class.

I’ve felt both sides of that. I miss it… and I’ve also deeply appreciated the space it’s created in my life.

What most people don’t see is that a 60-minute class is never just 60 minutes. For me, it’s usually 8+ hours of sequencing, curating music, and thoughtfully weaving something meaningful through what becomes a strong, intentional workout. I don’t want to do anything halfway.

I’m not putting pressure on what’s next or whether I return to a traditional studio schedule. But I do feel drawn to something — another co-teach with @sallystrikesback
Shared energy.
Shared creativity.
A new rhythm.

If I were to step back into a more consistent offering — what would you want it to feel like?

Sharing this bits of the words spoken in Saturdays class.
Thoughts I’ve been pondering for a couple months.
GOD I miss teaching!!!

Aligned
Foundation
feel your feet
Back to the basics
BE in your body
All of these direct you back to the same thing.
The Root

I made a mistake when I decided the point of life was to always remain calm.
Somewhere it became the finish line.
Proof that I chose correctly.

Everything has become about regulating myself.
As if the entire human experience is calm.
Relax your body, soothe the trigger, get grounded, find your center.
Do that!!
It’s a nice place to comeback to, but it’s a fantasyland way to live..

Clouds pass by.
And feelings move.
Joy, happiness, unconditional love, connection, CALM
That’s the root.
The North Star

I want to return to my North Star.
But also I want aliveness.

This body is allowed to experience without turning the experience into a problem.

The whole damn thing.
The sunrise and the rainy day.
The kiss and the lesson that follows.
The belly laugh and the ugly cry.

Come back to the main source.
Create, build community, water it.
Just keep coming back.
You do that just by simply living and being… day after day, but with intention.

Nervous system capacity is not the ability to remain perfectly calm while life happens around us.
It’s the ability to remain available (not abandon myself) while I’m experiencing the full range of being human.

To feel sadness and victory without deciding the sadness shouldn’t be there.
Enjoy the intensity of receiving without unconsciously getting rid of what has been received.
To feel entire humanity and still have access to choice.
That’s capacity.

I don’t want to build a body that needs life to hide in a narrow emotional box to function.
I want a body with range.
A body that can hold all of it without collapsing.

Contrast is what makes life so damn beautiful!

Thank you Life
Thank you yoga
Thank you friends who came to share, support, and just simple be in a space that has held us through so many milestones on this journey.

Teenager!!

I can’t believe my baby is 13 😭
I didn’t cry when I turned 30
I didn’t cry when I turned 40
Or 45 😂 or older…
(mom & Nadine cried when they got older and sometimes hid for 3 days on big bdays)

This year I definitely cried about Ava turning 13 😂😭 I’m partly turning into my mom but more importantly realizing how beautiful it is to witness something you love grow.

Ava - you have so much of your grandmother in you. All the best parts - playfulness, laughter, hard working, your love for life, and you’ve always been ready! I LOVE that about you ❤️

Don’t ever let this world tell you to be something other than yourself!!

Happy birthday babe!!
Love Mom

The more I protect myself from healthy discomfort, the less resilient I become.
It’s easy to feel good when everything is okay. Ive stayed because it’s familiar.
Familiar disguises itself as comfort.
Sometimes I convince myself I’m doing the inner work because it feels hard.
Unhealthy hard.
There’s a difference.

The devil in disguise shows itself when nothing is being asked of me.
What is healthy hard?
Growth. Challenge. Voluntary difficulty. Honest reflection. Responsibility. Humility.
Doing hard things with intention. Cut right through the center and smile on the other side.

Sometimes I don’t need more balance. Not another healing modality, or gimmick to regulate the nervous system. Developing a range to hold the capacity to show up in life deserves a seat at the table as well.
Find the friction. More resistance.
Breathe. Use the tools. Stop collecting them.
Discomfort is the compass.
Pay attention to where it points.

Maybe this is for you?
Maybe this is for me 😜

Sincerely,
NC

The intent of this post is not to make you paranoid.
Awareness is key!

We’re not just looking for the white van pulling off a snatch and grab anymore.
Abusers and predators are much more sophisticated today.
They spot vulnerabilities, the down moments, the ones who feel unseen. And sometimes they befriend the ones who are healthy and happy with a sensitive and caring heart.
Take a moment to read the patterns and progression of isolating the target. If they can cast a veil and it takes hold like a noose, the abuse follows. There are many different types of abuse, and it’s happening right in front of us in broad daylight.

Community doesn’t disappear when you stop performing.
It deepens.
If you allow it.

The people who resonate with what you create, or the way you move from the heart, they aren’t following you for trends.
Theyre following you for YOU.
Unrefined.

If you’re looking for permission to disrupt the trendy thing...
(Don’t wait for someone to give it to you)

Give it to yourself!

Not choosing one world over the other, but recognizing that true strength is created when both exist together.

A timeless circle, balanced, and intentional.

A moment in time where we all exist together!

For those who understand that the strongest bodies, the calmest minds, and the deepest confidence aren’t handed over to you—they’re earned.

This is not about chasing perfection.

It’s about honoring every chapter that shaped you.

Because real luxury isn’t found in material items you can purchase.

It’s found in the quiet confidence of someone who has lived to know exactly who they are.

The way something ages with dignity instead of losing value.
— not damage, but proof of use, life, and a beautiful story.

A life lived with raw authenticity.

Rough - irregular, cracked wide open.

Life without safety nets.
Movement over perfection, real.
Unfiltered.

A quiet POWER from within.

To believe the most beautiful things in life don’t become valuable despite their history.

They become valuable because of it.

Earned. Not manufactured.

More to come ☺️

Ps. @graydeuber Your eye is impeccable! The first picture should be a book cover…

Building community instead of competition by @nc.yogi

I used to believe life was testing my strength.
Maybe it was.
My first 20 years I developed physical toughness.
The next 20 years I worked on growing my mental resilience.

I don’t think that’s it anymore.
I feel like life is asking something different of me now.

I’m not sure what it is yet, but I’ll take all the grit and turn it into gold over the next 20 💛
Along with the ability to not take myself so seriously - life’s too short.
Keep stepping

RULES OF BALANCE

WHEN YOU’RE ANGRY, DON’T REACT.
Give yourself as much time as you need to calm down, get clear, then communicate.

WHEN YOU’RE TOO HAPPY, DON’T MAKE PROMISES.
Don’t agree to sub a yoga class while you are out drinking 😜

WHEN YOU’RE TIRED, DON’T GIVE UP.
Rest if you need to, then stoke the fire and focus. Just keep going!

WHEN YOU’RE SAD, DON’T MAKE IMPORTANT DECISIONS.
This includes deep sadness/grief. Move through it until you are stable and steady.

WHEN LIFE GETS HARD,
DON’T LOOK FOR SOMEONE TO BLAME.
Stop pointing fingers!
