Sick ass freehanded chrysanthemum from the other day by @nessaaa_
If you’ve followed me throughout the years, you know by now that I’ve been tattooing for a damn minute. Can you believe it’s been 14 years since I started? I wish I got awarded a pin for being employed for this long! Maybe I’ll make myself one lol. As you may or may not know, being in the arts and being self-employed is a very difficult industry to be in. I’m not guaranteed a salary, and the minute I stop working, stop coming up with new business ideas, or stop pushing myself as an artist is the minute I stop acquiring work. Lucky for me, I have the best clients ever, who continue to come back to me year after year! You’ve all seen me grow and watched my tattoos evolve. I’ve also shared portions of my private life with you, where you’ve seen my life adventures, watched me have kids, and caught snippets of my hobbies and interests. I’ve also disappeared from social media on several different occasions to preserve my mental health, which I’m sure lots of you can relate to. Who hasn’t disappeared from social media?! But seriously, 2025 and 2026 have been THE hardest years of my life. I won’t go into the details, but I was at my lowest point, and I didn’t know if I was ever going to come out of it… But here I am. Definitely far from healed, but moving forward in ways that I can control. After relocating to Victoria, my business took a pretty big hit, but I continued to persevere. Again, my clients have been the best and have consistently pulled me through. As I navigated through the tough times, I started to reevaluate my career. I know I will continue to tattoo for as long as I can because I absolutely love it so much. However, it has been incredibly isolating for the past 15 years. Even though I am an introvert most of the time, I miss being part of something bigger and working on a team. I also know that I’m not getting any younger and I probably can’t tattoo for the rest of my life! (Continued in the comment section…) by @nessaaa_
