Berlin, always a treat. They say it is a fast course, flat and ideal for a PR. Thanks to some lottery luck, I could check out @berlinmarathon myself this year, via a quick 48hr trip from the West Coast. A marathon is tough enough, so I treated myself to 2 nights at the old lady @hoteladlonkempinski - epic pre-marathon dinner buffet included. Nothing better than rolling out of bed and walking over to the start line. Of the few majors I ran so far, this was by far the best organized. No crazy lines, and the masses did not feel massy at all (56k runners!!). The course is indeed gorgeous, through all the beautiful corners of Berlin and not a single out & back (@tokyomarathon looking at you)! Not a PR day for me, as the late start and the blasting mid-day sun did their parts in adding to the inevitable mile 16+ dread … a cleaned up checkin with my one and only Schwammabrocker @jlentsch post race capped a weekend for the books. Another one in the books for 2026. So far my highlight this year. Having totally forgotten that I put my name into the lottery, last September I got an email out of the blue that I was selected to compete in Roth's legendary long-distance triathlon in 2026. They say it is the "home of triathlon" - and indeed it is one big carnival. I am proud to have achieved my 3 goals that I have for every race: 1) finish, 2) happy, and 3) healthy. This was a tough one - a hilly course, thankfully it cooled off compared to the week/s leading up to it - but this came at the expense of high winds, which made especially the bike part a big fight against the elements. In any event - I did not get close to the time compared to last time, but hey - I made it through and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. Thanks to my buddy @erichpolz for going through this journey with me! What's next? by @neurobaritone

Marathon #13 is in the books. This time in my hometown. My first Vienna City Marathon. Also my last one. Good to have this checked off my bucket list. The course is indeed gorgeous and it was about time to get out on the Hauptallee, Wienzeile, Mariahilfer Straße and ultimately Ringstraße. This was a hard one, though. Some external factors outside of control (unexpected heat), some within control (too few and disorganized waterstations) - and some factors on my end (arrival from US day before, 1 week after Coachella craziness, 2 weeks post-TSP) made this one a toughie. But your boy is a smart kid, so I took it slow and therefore made it to the finish easily and had fun overall. #viennacitymarathon by @neurobaritone

Here for the music, not the noise. #coachella2026 by @neurobaritone

37.5 hours for 290 miles LA>LV. A crew of misfits and go-getters. Plans got scrapped early and cobbled back together even stronger and faster. There were incredible night-skies, rugged trails, penetrable barbwire fences, closed roads and trails to nowhere. And electrolyte slushies for the conquerers of the infamous Powerline stretch. Every one of us ran up to 3 marathons over a period of less than 2 days - with little or no sleep throughout. And then there was pumping music through the night and day pushing us forward, cheers and high-fives with other teams and a few fierce battles along the way (Arctic Monkeys, next time we’ll get your Swiss asses, and also looking at you, young Ben Stiller!). At the end, there was the infamous pool party and a fabulous crew dinner. Many thanks to our pied-piper @paulripke for assembling this rag-tag crew, @michael_bocksnick for being the only one with an acual plan, @mrlenski for not getting lost in the desert, @drlivlongevity for fixing our bodies and baking mean pizzas, @maximilianrgbt for making us look stylish, @jan__simon for rocking the hottest upper body on the trails, @jackcrapa for grinding the hardest, @johannessteurerphoto for fearless driving, and @arvidharnqvist for a fabulous close-out evening. And finally @slimothy.bing for the inspiration by eating that whole thing solo. We all can learn from you my brother.

One week has passed, the body is healing, but the mind is still processing. #ironmanarizona #formracing by @neurobaritone

It all started 8 years ago when I got myself an Apple Watch back in 2017. Playing around with the Nike Run Club app led to my first 10k, followed by my first half marathon in 2018. My first marathon in 2019 was a tough one (@runrocknroll DC … seems about right they got rid of that one), but I kept at it, completing Marathon No. 11 earlier this year in LA, where I set another PR. I started dabbling in triathlons last fall - which explains my 2025 Marathon PR (turns out swimming and biking makes you also a better runner). Yesterday, I completed my first long-distance triathlon, and I can call myself “Ironman” now. It is still amazing to learn over and over again what more this old body is capable of …. I am incredibly thankful to my support and training crew @cedfitinfo @coachdebbiepotts @paulripke @myprocoach_ @formswim #formracing #myprocoach

Another magical weekend in the desert. Music from the finest. And beautiful people all around. #MusicAndArts #Coachella2025 by @neurobaritone

$And then there are days that are nothing short of glorious. Coming off of a radial head fracture after a fall during an early-morning training run in January, and a tough tough tough Tokyo Marathon just 2 weeks ago, everything came together today. Temperature and wind were just perfect, allowing me to be in the zone all 26.2 miles. Nutrition plan was executed, and - especially as I tend to run low on salt - I put just about the right amount of salt back in and at the right time. Speaking of zones - my coach @coachdebbiepotts nailed it again. The plan was keeping heart rate in Z2 to low Z3 through mile 18, and then push - whatever the body allows at that time. And boy, there was some juice left to bring this bad baby home! Shoutout also to my badass 30-times ironman and strength coach @cedfitinfo - with these grueling weekly workouts over the past year, this almost 50-year old sack of bones and muscles held together impressively! Next up: triathlon training - can’t wait! #marathon #marathontraining #triathlon #formracing by @neurobaritone$
