Breaking news - we are now four again! 🎻 🎻 🎻 🎻 We’re thrilled to announce the appointment of Danish violinist Peter Andreas Nielsen as our new first violinist! Currently based in Copenhagen, Peter Andreas is a prominent figure on the Danish and Scandinavian music scene. With his wide range of chamber, festival and orchestral experience, often as guest principal, he will bring a wealth of talent and artistry to the first violin position. Having captivated audiences on our Transform tour earlier this year, we’re looking forward to welcoming Peter Andreas back to Aotearoa in early 2027. Keep an eye out for our 2027 season announcement in December, to see when you’ll be able to experience Peter Andreas in concert near you. In the meantime, head to the link in our bio to learn more about him. Welcome Peter Andreas! Nau mai! Haere Mai! by @newzealandstringquartet

🎉Congrats to emerging composer @sararain__ ! We've chosen her winning work 'The Internal Eclipse,' from the many fantastic compositions entered by students from @vicuniwgtn_nzsm, to take on tour with us later this month! 🎻 From the very first bars of ‘The Internal Eclipse’, we were captivated by the extraordinary vibrancy of colour and richness of texture that Sara conjures from the four instruments of the string quartet. There is something timeless about this piece of music. It seems to speak across the centuries, drawing on sounds and colours that feel ancient, while at the same time sounding fresh, vibrantly alive, and connected to our own time. Sara said "When I heard the news, I was beyond excited and so incredibly happy. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone involved and I’m really looking forward to the tour!" You can hear this wonderful piece as part of our 'Legend' tour. Check out the link in bio for concert details. by @newzealandstringquartet
