IT MAY SEEM LIKE ITS ALWAYS A PARTY… but these dance classes are CLASSSESSS!!! we r learninggg!! they’re COMMUNITY SPACES!!!! just wanted to share some more recaps of all the classes we’ve had so far and share gratitude for the wonderful people who have taught 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 🩰 ballet taught by meee 🌊 contemporary w also me 📣 accessible majorette dance @itshec 🤲🏽 massage basics @nat_sassine @takecarebodywork 💃🏽 salsa bachata konpa @dazedestiny @yolybelizaire 🪘🤸🏽‍♀️ capoeira with @osmiamiadventure 👠heels with @babi.caridad THANK YOU @miamilightproject WITHOUT WHOM NONE OF THIS IS POSSIBLE i’m trying to figure out how to organize and move myself and others. and dance was something that was always close to me, that i realized could be a good path to find my way in this process. dancing and moving and spending time together with others who also want a space to move, fills my heart so much, and means so much more to me than just a dance class. every time i ended up talking with folks for hours, discussing what we might have been going through, how the rise of fascism and state violence is fucking terrifying, dreaming up what to do about it. it feels stupid to talk about it but slowly but surely things are coming together. i want these classes to become a space for people to connect, to practice pushing out of our isolation. a reminder to ask each other for what we need. a reminder THAT WE ARE NOT SEPARATE. THAT WHAT HURTS YOU HURTS ME! THAT WE ARE SO MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE DOING A SIMPLE MOVEMENT TOGETHER THAN SOME COMPLICATED SHIT ALONE!! so yea anyways its felt so good to learn and be safe and move and bear the weight of our bodies fully. it all feels stupid, reflecting and posting about dance classes but i don’t know i don’t want to post abt this stuff and pretend it’s not connected. we are learning to trust our bodies and each other and move with intention and precision to move together see each other make music together and it sounds woowoo but i think these are essential fucking skills. !!!!!! im working on taking things from thought to action from thought to action from thought to action action actionnnn by @niblorf
