September was the anniversary of my grandmother’s passing. Every year I try to celebrate her life and legacy she left and although it is never easy it still heals me. This year hit hard as it’s been 20 years since she left us. It’s a long time and a full lifetime because I was 20 when she passed away…my lifetime with her. The realization that every day is now longer than the time I had with her. Every day is a step further and beyond. I’m so very grateful for the time I had with her and at the same time I mourn what I have not and will never have again. She was one of my very best friends. She was a safe place. Her prayers kept me and her love held me. DD touched every person she came in contact with. Losing her was one of the hardest moments of my life. For those that know my story, it was a turning point for my life and a very dark path. I lost a piece of me and a part of my life. And while I will not let her loss crush me again, the weight of this realization is heavy. Every day I wish she were here. Every day I wish I could talk to her, to hug her, to hear her laugh, and to see her live. I do not want to move past this threshold but I will. I honor her and her life by living mine. by @nicholeeasley

Sara, we met through a mutual friend and found out later you thought I was a b**ch. I won a trip to the symposium in Vegas but was going alone. Matt found out you would be there and made you reach out to me and befriend me. We skipped a class to grab a drink and get to know each other and later both drunk texted Matt to thank him for the forced friendship. You had just started dating Lyle and later on I was with you when you walked down the aisle. We supported one another through other friendships and you helped me when one stole my dog. We celebrated milestones like birthdays, moves, and the birth of your children. The most beautiful friendship that came from an unlikely place. I am and will always be truly grateful God brought you into my life. Love you @sarajgilson by @nicholeeasley

Every outlet is posting about Sara Gilson as the social media influencer, but she was so much more. She was something great way before social media was even a thing. She was the type of friend who would do anything for you. In my darkest of times I checked myself into a hospital and she drove 5 hours to see me in the allotted 30 minutes time frame. I hadn’t even told anybody yet but she tracked me down and showed up for me just to show me I was loved and not alone. That is who she is and that is how she should be remembered. A fiercely loyal friend and a loving person. I’m shattered at the loss and miss her deeply. by @nicholeeasley

I am heartbroken and still in shock of the loss of my sweet friend. The situation is beyond tragic and unfair. She brought laughter and joy wherever she went and touched many lives.

Sara, I still remember when we met and you thought I was a b**ch then Matt had the audacity of making you befriend me. Our first memories were at a hair symposium in Vegas of all places and we bonded from there. Walking through relationships and down wedding aisles. Dancing at clubs and a random pole dancing class. Sharing the love of hair and people. Sharing numerous belly laughs and gut wrenching tears. Stupid jokes and deep conversations. Watching you have your beautiful children. Seeing you fight for them and for yourself. And reaching for me in my darkest of places. I am sorry we will not have the opportunity to see the other side of your hardest days but grateful to know I will see you one day. You will always be missed and never forgotten. I love you, dear friend. by @nicholeeasley

I love this picture. This was taken at one of the hardest times of my life. My grandpa drove for hours to come see me and show how much he cared for me and loved me. I didn’t know this picture was taken, so this is so special to me. I’m sure he was speaking life and encouragement to me and I’m sure he also prayed over me. I can hear his voice calling me Sweetie and telling me it’s going to be alright. And I feel that he is trying to comfort me still in this hard time. I loved him dearly and will miss him so much. So grateful for the love and memories we shared. by @nicholeeasley

After only 3 years, my niece Kaylynn is graduating with a 4.0 gpa as a double major in Criminology and Psychology from the University of Arkansas! Throughout her school years, she has remained motivated and disciplined. She not only works hard but loves hard. Even with the responsibilities of school she still makes it a priority to serve God, her family, and others. I couldn’t be more proud of her for her accomplishments and the woman she is. Love my Special K! by @nicholeeasley

One year without my grandpa Joel. His passing is still unbelievable and hard to understand. I’m just grateful to know God healed him, not in the way we wanted since he’s no longer with us, but still God kept him from suffering and he’s whole again.

Grandpa Joel - I miss you so much. I miss being on the back of your Harley, holding on and knowing you’ll keep me safe. I miss your humor and laughter. I miss your wisdom and love of God. I miss the random calls you’d make, just to let me know you love me. I’m so grateful I got to share one more adventure with you at my wedding. I’m grateful for your love for me, love for family, love for friends and love for strangers. I hold you in my heart until we meet again in Heaven. by @nicholeeasley
