World recap: I’ve stopped crashing out now so have got around to the recap. Clearly not the day we wanted but I’ve put it in perspective. I was honestly bricking it before lift off so I’m very proud of myself for not bombing and contributing to team GB placing third in the juniors. I’d like to thank @porridgeisyummy and the whole gb coaching staff for the excellent handling and keeping me composed throughout the experience. I’d also like to thank @arthx_o for his coaching, I couldn’t ask for a better coach, the gut cut going into this one was lethal but worked perfectly. It’s still mental to me that I’ve competed internationally, can’t wait for what the future holds 🫡🫡 @warwickbarbell @bandit.powerlifting by @nick.towsonsbd

EQUIPPED BENCH NATIONALS RECAP: Had a perfect 3/3 day yesterday after the most aggressive prep of my life, securing a 170 bench and a 57.8 GL (highest GL in the juniors but didn’t rank due to being a guest lifter). I’m hoping my performance has secured me a spot on the GB equipped bench team, we shall see. I have a laundry list of ppl I want to thank, but I’ll start with the main man @arthx_o, I couldn’t ask for a better coach, the calls he made on the day secured my performance. I’d also like to thank @maisie.robinson_x for sitting through 12 hours of lifting to support me (goated gf), @fullhdlifting and @liftahontas for the moral support, @barbelltrainingcomplex for providing the best of training environments, and everyone @warwickbarbell for the support. We’ll keep building and hopefully I’ll be given the opportunity to represent my country on the biggest of stages. by @nick.towsonsbd

Varsity 2024: WARRA DAY! There’s about a million and one people I want to thank for making this day happen, but special mention needs to go to @louishanlanlifts for handling me amazingly, @arthx_o for coaching me and getting my lifts unstuck, and @maisie.robinson_x for all her love and support throughout my prep and on the day <3. Squats: 162.5 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 172.5 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 175 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ (comp PR) Bench: 115 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 122.5 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 130 ⚪️⚪️🔴 (Comp PR) Dead’s: 200 🔴🔴🔴 205 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 215 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ by @nick.towsonsbd

Euros recap: Made weight, that was the objective of this comp.

Anyhow, after another weight cut from hell the gang rolled in large to Pilsen. Squats went amazing, 270 was a grind but we got it up. Fuck bench, all my homies hate bench. I feared coming into this comp
I couldn’t hack the deadlift suit so very happy to have came away with 222.5.

657.5 total, 5kg total PR. Time to lock in for Poland then chud maxx into the 105s so I don’t have to piss brown again 🫡🫡

As always massive thanks to head honcho @arthx_o and @jaynekate_ , cut and recomp was perfectly executed. Massive thanks to big dawg himself @fullhdlifting, @kc_pl for some shirt wizardry, and the biggest of dawgs @ray_bowring. All the support from the GB team means the world and it’s the biggest honour of my life to compete for Britain. by @nick.towsonsbd

8/9 type day 652.5 total, 27.5kg total PR. Great day out at nationals, having gone from 98kg post Xmas and new years to 92.7kg on comp day could’ve been the end of me, but thanks to @arthx_o and @jaynekate_ keeping me right I didn’t projectile chun on my opener. Really glad I’ve kept the habit of getting a lot of attempts in equipped, makes up for two internationals of 1/3 💀💀. Big year of international’s ahead of me, time to rebuild and learn from this comp. All credit goes to head honcho @arthx_o, he has to put up with a lot of my bullshit but he keeps cranking out results. Onto the next one 👹👹 by @nick.towsonsbd

EMs equipped qualifier recap:
TLDR: +46kg on my comp total and nationals QT secured.
Can’t lie, one of my best comps to date, 625 total, 9/9, 27 white lights in equipped is mythical. All credit goes to the head honcho @arthx_o, very aggressive turnaround from bench euros and only 3 sessions in my squat suit, game plan was executed perfectly. My long term goal in equipped has always been team gb full power and now that the QT is secured, time to build into the British in Jan.

British Bench Junior Nationals 2025
170kg (+11kg)
3/3

This was Nicks 2nd equipped comp after competing 5 weeks prior. This was a tough turnaround but Nick put a lot of effort into the final push. He was able to get his bodyweight up and prioritise recovery coming into his first national level competition. Big thank you to @fullhdlifting & @liftahontas for all their help with kit.

Nick showed great composure on the day, taking health jumps from 150-160-170. Due to being a guest lifter Nick couldn’t claim the title of u93 Junior equipped champ or best lifter for his class.

Nick has been selected to represent team GB at Worlds Equipped Bench in Drammen, Norway. I am very proud of the work Nick has put in through the start of his Equipped saga and I look forward to seeing what this young man can add in 2025.

Well done Nick,

Thank you to judges, organisers, spotters and all other volunteers.

COMP RECAP: had a brilliant outing yesterday at @wm_powerlifting winter. First comp equipped and I’m happy to have not bombed, set a West Midlands equipped bench record in my cat, qualify for EQ bench nats, and all England bench nats. I can’t thank @arthx_o enough for his programming and support with the change to equipped, he’s an amazing coach and a great friend :) I would also like to thank @barbelltrainingcomplex for putting up with my antics and holding a great comp, everyone @wm_powerlifting for executing the comp, @warwickbarbell for the love and support, and everyone who has supported me with my lifting :) Squats: 185 ⚪️⚪️⚪️, 200 ⚪️⚪️🔴, 207.5 🔴🔴🔴 Bench: 153 🔴🔴🔴, 153 ⚪️⚪️⚪️, 159 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ Dead: 200 ⚪️⚪️⚪️, 210 ⚪️⚪️⚪️, 220 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ Left with the most cursed total of the day, 579 💀💀💀 by @nick.towsonsbd

END OF BLOCK MAX: Squats have progressed really well, have added 10kg to my squat max with a little left in the tank. I’m happy despite bench and deadlifts not cooperating but will build them back. Start of a new era as I start coaching with @arthx_o, but no love lost for big @infinity.strength.systems, absolute legend. Onto the next 🫡🫡 by @nick.towsonsbd

TW: depression and suicide. This movember challenge meant a lot to me, I have dealt with depression and c-ptsd since I was 14. I’ve been to some very dark places and have felt completely hopeless, but lifting saved me, and I think it’s saved a lot of other people in similar situations. For any guy struggling who feels unable to speak up, I wanna remind you ur not alone. It may feel that way but that’s the depression talking, so many people care about you and need you. Even though movember is over, please keep talking to ur mates, u don’t know who may need it <3 Thanks to everyone who kept me company through my challenge, it made it a little less difficult 😭 by @nick.towsonsbd
