✨Build it, and they will come. ✨Today is the anniversary of the first poetry open mic I organized at @brudbar_ I was incredibly nervous that no one would show up and when they did, I was afraid they wouldn’t come back. And here we are, 1 year later, often at capacity with new people showing up every month. I’m feeling really emotional and proud and excited and honoured to be part of this. Every single person that shows up here has helped to build this community and I feel glad to know you all 🫶 An extra special thank you to @taterade.jpg and James for allowing us to take over their place once a month, and for generally being super cool people ✨✨ by @nicoledalcourtwrites

An incredible high school teacher emailed me this week with a poem written by a student in his class. It’s a cento of my book and @taylorswift song lyrics woven together. I was/am so incredibly touched by it. Poetry has brought so much joy to my life and knowing that my work inspired this beautiful cento is just so incredible!! by @nicoledalcourtwrites
