2 lessons life keeps teaching me: stay curious, and never take the people you love for granted..

This is my 9-year-old half-sister. And as you can see, we look surprisingly alike!

I grew up not knowing who my biological dad was. 9 years ago, through a series of crazy coincidences, I found him on Instagram. We did a DNA test, and he turned out to be my biological father. He also told me he had just had another daughter.

I reached out to her mom, and we became friends. We stayed in touch for 8 years until she suddenly passed away from cancer this year.

And now, I have this little girl in my life who lives all the way in Batumi, Georgia, while I live in Canada.

This was only my second time visiting her. The flights are long, the expenses are significant for my current budget, and leaving her behind breaks my heart.

A few lessons life has taught me through this experience:

1. Stay curious and keep your heart open.

Even if a parent was absent from your life, you never know what unexpected connections might come through that relationship. By finding my dad, I found not only my sister but also a brother who is always there for me when life gets difficult. I’m incredibly grateful for both of them.

2. Never take people for granted.

Life can change in an instant. Losing my sister’s mom this year reminded me how precious our time together really is. Love people while they’re here. Be present. Don’t postpone what matters.

3. You don’t always have to know the answer right away.

I love my life in Canada, but it’s heartbreaking knowing my little sister is so far away. I don’t know yet how I’ll figure out being the big sister I want to be from another country, but I know I want to find a way to stay present in her life.

Maybe that’s my next quest: finding a way to honour the life I’m building while being there for the people I love.

Sometimes, life gives you something beautiful that also breaks your heart a little. And you have to figure out how to hold both. ❤️‍🩹 by @nikamova

Here’s everything I needed to paint this little lemon (in case you want to start painting with watercolors too):

• A small watercolor set (got it from Opus)
• A water brush
• Watercolor paper
• A cute Pinterest tutorial

That’s it! I just found a tutorial I liked and followed along ;)

*I love how simple and travel-friendly watercolors are. I can throw them in my bag and paint wherever I go (much easier and cheaper than the Copic markers I used before).

**I’m just at the beginning of my watercolor journey, and I’m open to any tips ;) by @nikamova

During my short visit to Batumi, I had the chance to try TWO aerial classes, and both were 10/10 experiences! 🤸‍♀️

1. Fly Stretching at @batumi_dance_backfam with @ksuniiik_ | 10/10

Ksenia guided us through challenging, deep stretches that helped us reach new levels of flexibility. At the end, she showed us a beautiful, Instagram-worthy pose that we all managed to do! And as if that wasn’t enough, the studio admin came to film professional-looking videos of us. What an experience!

2. Fly Yoga at @angelsflow_studio_batumi with @gannaslovo | 10/10

A full-on fly yoga workout where we got to stretch deeply, build strength in a fun way, and finish with a proper guided Savasana led by Anna. The studio itself is beautiful, and we even enjoyed delicious herbal tea together after class, which gave us a lovely opportunity to connect and make new friends. 🫖

I absolutely loved both teachers, both studios, and both classes. ❤️ I can’t wait to come back to Batumi and visit them again on my next trip! by @nikamova

How lucky am I to have such an amazing friend in Hamburg who not only does yoga with me, but is also a professional makeup artist who can create a fantastic look in just a few minutes, right on a street bench, using whatever I have with me… and even finishing it off with testers from a makeup store display 😂💋

All just to capture some beautiful memories from my visit to Hamburg! 🥹🫶

Without @safronova_tanua x @makeup_tanya_hamburg , I probably wouldn’t have any photos from this trip, and somehow I ended up with LOTS of amazing ones…will share them soon…😘 by @nikamova

The most powerful place! by @nikamova

The Sivananda Yoga Center in Hamburg is one of the most unique Sivananda centers I’ve ever visited.

They have been sharing yoga for more than 20 years, and I feel incredibly lucky that my visit to Hamburg happened to coincide with the opening of their beautiful new space this Sunday. ✨

I had the opportunity to take part in a special Sivananda Yoga class, followed by puja and satsang as part of the opening ceremony. It was such a beautiful way to welcome this new chapter.

But what fascinates me most is the story behind the center.

More than 20 years ago, Sita and Ram opened their first center, creating something quite unusual: a space where the worlds of art and yoga could exist together. Alongside teaching yoga, they hosted art installations and exhibitions, creating a meeting point for spiritual practice, creativity, and community.

Many of the students who came to them all those years ago are still practicing with them today. I had the pleasure of meeting some of them this weekend, and hearing their stories made the history of this place feel very alive.

This combination of the art world and the yoga world inspires me deeply. It made me think about how beautiful it would be to create something similar one day, perhaps even in Ukraine: a space where yoga, art, creativity, and community can naturally come together.

Sita and Ram are also currently writing a book about their incredible journey, the center, and all the unique art installations and projects they have created over the years. I’m already very excited to read it when it comes out.

I’m only in Hamburg for a few days, but somehow I’ve been able to attend three full Sivananda classes in just a short time. And now I’ve had the chance to witness this beautiful new beginning too.

I feel incredibly blessed, welcomed, and grateful for this experience and for everyone I’ve met at the center.

Sometimes you arrive somewhere for just a few days and leave with an idea that stays with you for much longer. 💛

Thank you, Sita Ram, and the whole Hamburg Sivananda community, for creating this beautiful space 🫶🕉️

Feeling so grateful for the beautiful days we shared during Living Your Design retreat in Scalea, Italy 🌊🕉️

We slowed down on the Calabrian shore, immersed ourselves in Human Design with @anna_kachkar_ , moved and meditated together, and shared this special experience with a beautiful group of powerful women, from 16 to 70, each bringing her own story and life experience!

I left Scalea with more clarity, self-acceptance, new tools for everyday life, and a beautiful feeling that the connections and learning we started there will continue far beyond the retreat… 🙏

So grateful for Anna’s care and guidance, the delicious food, sunny beach days, our Sivananda yoga and breathing class, and the beautiful community 🫶
