Lean in for a moment. What you’re about to watch is more than exceptional training. These are Psychiatric Service Dogs performing trained tasks designed to help mitigate the effects of serious psychiatric and physical disabilities. Deep Pressure Therapy (DPT) applies steady, intentional pressure that can help regulate the nervous system and provide support during moments of distress. Blocking creates a physical buffer around the handler, helping provide space, security, and confidence in overwhelming environments. Every movement you see is purposeful. Every task is trained to meet the unique needs of the individual handler. These dogs aren’t simply companions—they’re working partners that help their handlers navigate daily life with greater independence, stability, and confidence. Behind every reliable Psychiatric Service Dog are countless hours of thoughtful training, trust, and teamwork. At Nitro K-9, we’re honored to help build those partnerships—one team at a time. #NitroK9 #PsychiatricServiceDog #ServiceDog #PSD #DeepPressureTherapy Blocking ServiceDogTraining DogTraining WorkingDog PTSD MentalHealthAwareness DisabilitySupport CanineEducation by @nitrok9
Every Friday at 6 PM, I offer a free NITRO K-9 group class for dogs of every skill level. That includes the reactive dogs, the anxious dogs, and the pups who get so overstimulated that everything seems to go right out the window. If that sounds like your dog, you’re welcome here. Since we started these classes, alongside the work people are doing in their weekly private lessons, I’ve watched dogs make real progress with leash reactivity, chronic anxiety, and the pressure of being out in the world. One of the most valuable parts is that a different mix of dogs shows up each week. Different personalities. Different energy. Different challenges. We get to take what you and your dog have been building together and practice it around life as it actually happens. For me, the meaningful moments are when a dog can settle where it used to struggle. When another dog walks past and yours can stay connected to you. When someone who used to dread taking their dog out starts feeling confident again. That’s a big deal. For both ends of the leash. These classes give us a chance to keep building that relationship, week after week, with people who understand what you’re working through. Fridays at 6 PM 📍 Tambark Creek Park Free • All skill levels welcome Text JOIN to (833) 477-9113 to join our text list for class updates and early registration. THE FULL BONES & CO. LINE HAS LANDED AT NITRO K-9. 🥩🔥 I’ve been feeding raw diets for nearly 40 years, and there are very few things in caring for dogs that I believe in more. Throughout my career, I’ve watched struggling dogs regain condition and energy after changes to their food. I’ve seen weight stabilize, skin improve, coats regain their shine, and teeth look cleaner. In some dogs, I’ve also noticed richer coat color and darker pigmentation. I’ve seen dogs troubled by reflux, persistent gas, and digestive discomfort become more comfortable after dietary changes. Watching a dog feel better and enjoy its meals again means something to me. My experience also includes dogs facing diabetes and cancer. Those dogs need feeding plans coordinated with their treating veterinarians, tailored to their diagnosis and treatment. Those experiences have made nutrition a lifelong priority. What goes into the bowl deserves serious attention. Now we’re carrying the entire Bones & Co. line—frozen and freeze-dried raw meals, treats, bones, and supplements. Alongside our decades of practical raw-feeding experience, we’ve taken training directly from Bones & Co. to deepen our knowledge of their products. Questions about recipes, portions, or getting started? Text us. We’re happy to help you understand the options. 🕙 Open seven days a week, 10 AM–7 PM. 📲 Please text ahead to confirm availability and arrange pickup. 🐾 Available exclusively to NITRO K-9 clients for now. ❄️ Bring a cooler for frozen purchases. Good training. Thoughtful nutrition. A lifetime of caring about the dog in front of us. #NitroK9 #BonesAndCo #RawFedDogs #BothellDogs #MillCreekDogs Every dog is an individual. Responses to dietary changes vary, and results are not guaranteed. If your dog has a medical condition, coordinate dietary changes with your veterinarian. by @nitrok9
After 40 years in this business, working dogs are still my favorite. I tell my clients all the time: there is nothing quite like watching a dog do what it was bred to do. The satisfaction and joy I see in my dogs when they work is something I still struggle to put into words. Forty years later, that feeling hasn’t worn off. Every dog has drive. Dogs are predators, and prey drive is a powerful part of how they engage with the world. Understanding that drive matters, especially when we’re working with intense reactions or anxiety. Giving it direction, while teaching the dog to stay connected and responsive, is an important part of developing internal control. At Nitro, we build that connection through the work and the relationship with the handler, without relying on a ball or toy to keep the dog engaged. I want a dog that can bring intensity to the work and still listen to the person holding the leash. Watching that relationship develop is one of my greatest pleasures. My standard goes beyond club routines and sport titles. I train for the moment you actually need your dog to protect you. At Nitro, 40 years of experience goes into building powerful bites, clear heads, and capable defenders prepared for life beyond the training field. If you want protection at home, on your walks, and beside your family, that’s the work I’ve spent my life doing. If you’re looking for home protection or greater security on your walks, let me know. We share more of our work in our Stories on Thursday and Sunday nights around 8 PM Pacific. We also livestream once a month for anyone who wants to watch. Come spend some time with us and see the dogs work. by @nitrok9
An answer can solve the problem in front of you. Understanding gives you the ability to solve the next one. At Nitro K‑9, we don’t merely train the dog—we develop the handler. We teach you to understand the timing, movement, communication, and purpose behind the work so you can confidently navigate whatever comes next. That is the Nitro K‑9 system: tested across thousands of dogs, refined over decades, and built to strengthen both ends of the leash. Sirius Service Dog Board & Train 3–6 Month Comprehensive Service Dog Training Program Sirius Service Dog Board & Train is Nitro K-9’s most intensive and comprehensive Service Dog training program. The program is named after Sirius, North’s Service Dog, and grew directly out of North’s experience training Sirius as her own Service Dog and becoming a trainer for Nitro K-9. That experience helped shape Sirius into what it is today: a completion-based program built around consistency, real-world experience, thoughtful task training, and a strong working relationship between dog and handler. Your dog will live and train with Nitro K-9 for approximately 3–6 months, depending on the individual dog, required tasking, progress, maturity, health, and home stays. The 3–6 month timeframe is an estimate, not a guaranteed completion date. Nitro K-9 makes the final professional determination regarding training progression, completion, graduation, and final return. Program Assessment Every prospective Sirius dog must complete an assessment before acceptance. In-School Assessment: In-Home Assessment: The assessment allows us to evaluate temperament, confidence, environmental stability, physical suitability, previous training, and the handler’s individual Service Dog needs. The full Program Fee is due in advance before any Sirius training slot, boarding space, start date, or booking is reserved or confirmed. What Sirius Covers Training is customized to the dog and handler and may include: Advanced obedience Hand and voice signal work Handler engagement Customized Service Dog task training Psychiatric Service Dog tasking Appropriate mobility or disability-related assistance tasks Public-access preparation Real-world environmental exposure Socialization and neutrality around people and dogs Confidence building Working calmly around distractions Training in stores, restaurants, businesses, crowds, vehicles, elevators, and other appropriate public environments Tasking is customized around the handler’s disability-related needs and the abilities of the individual dog. by @nitrok9
How to size your dogs training collar and a lot more - One of the biggest mistakes I see is dogs wearing the wrong size prong collar. Too loose, and it slides down the neck where it loses effectiveness. Too tight, and it’s uncomfortable and unnecessary. A properly fitted prong collar should sit high on the neck, just behind the ears and under the jaw. It should be snug enough to stay in position without sliding, but not so tight that it’s creating constant pressure. The right fit isn’t about being harsher—it’s about being clearer, safer, and more consistent for the dog. A properly sized tool, combined with proper instruction, makes all the difference. by @nitrok9
THE BIGGEST LIE IN THE PET FOOD INDUSTRY? For decades we’ve been told that ultra-processed kibble is the only complete, convenient, and “scientifically formulated” way to feed our dogs. I don’t buy it. After more than 40 years working with thousands of dogs, I’ve watched what happens when owners start asking better questions and feeding better food. I’m not asking you to blindly believe me. I’m asking you to do what every dog owner should do… 📖 Read the ingredient label. 📖 Read how kibble is actually manufactured. 📖 Ask why so many vitamins and minerals have to be added back after processing. 📖 Ask yourself whether your dog was designed to live on ultra-processed cereal for every meal of its life. Real food isn’t a fad. It’s what every wild canid on the planet has survived on long before a bag ever existed. Nutrition isn’t a substitute for training… But a dog that feels better is often in a much better position to learn, work, and thrive. Question marketing. Follow the evidence. Do what’s best for your dog. Real Dog Training. Real Results. #NitroK9 #RealDogTraining #RawFeeding #DogNutrition #workingdogsuk by @nitrok9

The best training doesn’t begin with commands. It begins with connection. Every sit. Every down. Every heel. Every recall. They’re more than behaviors. They’re moments of communication between dog and handler. Training isn’t about creating robots. It’s about building trust, engagement, and a relationship your dog wants to be part of. When that connection exists… Obedience becomes natural. Focus becomes a choice. And distractions lose their power. This is what real dog training looks like. 🐾 NITRO K-9 LLC 📍 Serving Seattle & Western Washington #DogTraining #NitroK9 #BalancedTraining #DogTrainer #WorkingDogs by @nitrok9
