severe ME/CFS
POSTS STORIES REELS
August is severe ME/CFS awareness month. There is so much I want to say, but even writing this took me several days. So I will leave you with a blank page. (Which words could say more than that?) #curemecfs #mecfs #mecfsawarenessmonth #severeme [Image ID: a black and white picture of an open notebook. The pages are blank.] by @noahelliottnoah
Before I begin, let me be loud and clear: there can be no disability justice under the colonial-capitalist empire. There is no disability justice without a free Palestine, a free Congo, a free Sudan. As we protest and fight and build communities, we can never forget this.  The last time I performed on a stage was June 19th, 2024, my graduation performance. At the time I was getting sicker and sicker, though I was not sure with what. The string of doctors I'd been to in the years prior were no help: I was simply stressed, hormonal, depressed, anxious- I should talk to someone, push through and exercise more.  Days at home became weeks, weeks at home became months in bed. Slowly, then suddenly, I became one of the hundreds of millions of people worldwide who spend their days in bed, often alone, and often in the dark and in silence. Eventually, a doctor gave me the diagnosis I'd come to suspect: ME/CFS, probabaly caused by 3 mild covid infections. "but there's not much else I can do for you."  Today, my family, friends, and partner are in The Hague, demanding better care and policy for those with post-viral illnesses such as ME/CFS and postcovid, as governments worldwide are cutting what little funding they had to further fund the war industry.  ME/CFS, which can be cause by covid and other virusses, is a chronic multi-systemic neuro-immune disease. Symptoms include extreme fatigue, pain, brain fog, sensitivity to light and sound, GI issues, intolerance to sitting or standing, and many many more. Other than management strategies and a few medications for symptom relief, there is no treatment. Most doctors still hold the rebuked belief that it is psychological and requires reconditioning and cognitive behavioral therapy (my nemesis). TEXT CONTINUES IN COMMENTS by @noahelliottnoah
Free Palestine 🇵🇸🇵🇸 #nietinmijnnaam by @noahelliottnoah
