17.2KM | 183m elevation gain | Parklands Sports Club.

Heavy rain throughout, from the start to the finish, the goal was to do an easy 15k ,but the good lads at parkland sports club, purposely add extra KMs to every distance group , they call it ‘tax’🥲😅

Pace breakdown:
- KM 1–5: 5:05–5:40/km
- KM 6–8: 5:32–6:05/km
- KM 9–10: 5:08 / 4:39
- KM 11: 6:22
- KM 12-17: 4:04–4:39/km

As I Slowly ease into my triathlon journey,I planned a cycling session afterwards to practise brick training, but the rain and the shivering that followed cancelled those plans.

Want a tough terrain to test yourself? Join parkland sport club marathon team ,every first Sunday of the month. They also have a big event coming up on 6th December,Inshlh.

Why End the Cut Race?

End the Cut Race,is a Sports for Impact Africa (S4IA) initiative using sport as a platform for social change to raise awareness, mobilize communities and champion a future free from Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

Held on 5 December 2026, during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (25 November–10 December), the race supports global efforts to end violence against women and girls.

Rooted in our nomadic heritage, we are spotlighting FGM because it remains a significant concern in our nomadic communities. Kenya’s 2022 Demographic and Health Survey reported FGM prevalence of 15% among women aged 15–49 nationally, 86.9% among Somali women and 75.9% among Samburu women (Kenya National Bureau of Statistics [KNBS] & ICF, 2023; Orchid Project, 2025).

Through this race, we aim to turn awareness into action. Part of the proceeds will support two youth-led organizations working to end FGM in Wajir and Samburu counties.

WHAT IF SPORT BECAME A FORCE FOR SOCIAL CHANGE?

We are Sports for Impact Africa (S4IA)— a youth-founded, social enterprise using sport to bring people together, raise awareness of pressing social issues, inspire action and drive social change within our communities.

HOW WE TURN SPORT INTO A PLATFORM FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

We connect sporting events with pressing social issues, using sport to engage communities, raise awareness and support solutions.

OUR MODEL

SOCIAL ISSUE → SPORT → MOBILIZATION → AWARENESS → IMPACT

SOCIAL ISSUE : Identify a social issue that needs public attention and action.

SPORT: Organize sporting events and activities around the issue.

MOBILIZATION: Bring participants, communities and organizations working on the issue together.

AWARENESS: Use the sporting event and digital platforms to share information, create space for conversations, challenge stigma and keep the issue in the public eye.

IMPACT: Direct part of event proceeds towards youth-led initiatives addressing the social issue, while sustaining continued community involvement beyond the event.

Sport is our platform. Social change is our purpose.
#sportsforimpactafrica #socialchange #sportsforimpact

RUN FOR HOPE 2026: THE MODEL IN ACTION

SOCIAL ISSUE: Suicide prevention and mental-health awareness.

SPORT: A community race created to raise awareness around suicide prevention.

MOBILIZATION: Brought runners and the wider Nairobi community together around a shared purpose.

AWARENESS: Used the race and digital platforms to open up conversations about suicide prevention and mental heath challenges.

IMPACT: Supported a youth-led mental-health initiative and extending awareness through two post-race suicide-prevention webinars.

Run for Hope was our first practical demonstration of how sport can be used as a tool to bring about social change. #suicidepreventionawareness #socialchange #sportsforimpactafrica

We believe sporting events can do more than bring people together for fitness and recreation.
They can create opportunities to engage communities, support solutions and contribute to lasting social change.

Follow @sports4impactafrica as we use sport to address pressing soc by @nomad2_0

Cruising steadily at 1,700m above sea level during the @stanchartkenya_ #marathon , I met Ismail, who has really fought against FGM.

And it got me thinking: Why should we cut our daughters and interfere with the bodies they were born with? Why should our girls continue to suffer in the name of culture?

This is why we run. Beyond the finish lines and personal bests, we run for a cause. For awareness. For change. For the girls whose voices are often unheard.

FGM must stop. Our daughters deserve better. 🛑

RUN FOR HOPE 2026 | The Inaugural Suicide Prevention & Awareness Race

Initially planned as a mini race for approximately 50 runners from the organizer’s running group, friends and immediate network, Run for Hope grew into a broader suicide-prevention and awareness initiative.

On 19 September 2026, the race brought the Nairobi community together, to break the silence around suicide and encourage conversations about mental health and suicide prevention. With awareness at its core, Run for Hope extended the conversation beyond race day.

#RunForHope2026. #suicideprevention #sportsforimpactafrica #sportsforsocialchange

#RunForHope2026. #communityimpact #sportforsocialchange

RUN FOR HOPE 2026 | BEYOND THE RACE

The impact did not end at the finish line.

1 youth-led mental-health initiative supported
2 post-race suicide-prevention awareness webinars

Through our collaboration with @the.lanternwithin Initiative, Run for Hope helped connect people with mental-health support resources and sustain conversations around suicide prevention.

This is how sport can become a platform for awareness and social change.

#suicidepreventiom #mentalhealthawareness #SportsForImpactAfrica.

To ensure the message reached more people, Run For Hope Organizer, opened participation beyond registered kit holders, welcoming Nairobi’s wider running community to join the campaign at no cost.

RUN FOR HOPE 2026 | SPORT FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

Run for Hope demonstrated what sport can do beyond fitness, recreation and competition, bring communities together around suicide prevention and raise awareness of a social issue affecting our communities.

Had the pleasure of pacing my fellow nomad and an ultramarathoner , as she cruised through a 30K Pr. The progress is REAL🐪.

Mombasa’s heat and humidity are a different beast. I was Sweating everywhere, while battling with a heavy Achilles,I had to eventually make a pit stop at the beach for a quick swim😂🏊🏾‍♂️.

Getting comfortable running shirtless and embracing the typical nomadic endurance runner look, skinny, tall, athletic… or should I say, a walking skeleton? 😭😂 At 6 ft and underweight for my height category,I’m really not beating the allegations that running can kill you😂😂.
