Want deeper relationships with your friends, partner and family? Hot take: stop being so nice.

While people pleasing may feel like the nice thing in the moment, it actually builds resentment which leads to disconnection.

Real connection requires you being real. That means good relationships involve moments of saying thanks but no thanks, asserting your boundaries, and making requests of others to support you.

If you could use some guidance on everything boundaries and relationships, this is our speciality! Connect with our team at hello@nomiitherapyandwellness.com by @nomiitherapy

Life lately at Nomii 🍂

Fall is officially here, which means we’re bringing out the sweat suits, trying new pumpkin recipes and leaning into cozy season activities.

Lately we’ve been getting out of the therapy room and into the community, including a fun @anka.pilates x Tality Run Club collab, an earlier summer social with our naturopath friend @dr.alexachichaknd and of course our regular team meetings where we deepen our skills together.

If you haven’t checked out Tality Run Club yet, we’re out every Friday morning, co-led by our co-founder Chelsea. Come for the run, stay for the sauna and make some friends. No need to be a “runner", everyone is welcome!

As always, if life is feeling like its really lifeing right now, we’re here. Whether it’s you, your relationship, or your family, reach out. We’d love to support you through whatever season you’re in.

Sometimes “I need space” isn’t really about needing distance. Sometimes it’s about what happens inside us when closeness feels uncomfortable, conflict feels overwhelming, or staying means feeling something we’d rather avoid.

We might shut down, pull away, convince ourselves we don’t care or leave before we can be left. These patterns serve us in the moment but ultimately keep us away from the thing we all crave most: connection and closeness.

At Nomii, our therapists work from a foundation of attachment, aimed at helping our clients break these patterns and create the connection and closeness they want.

If you’re ready to challenge those patterns email us at hello@nomiitherapyandwellness.com

Rich in life ✨

You can love your family and still need boundaries.

As adult children, growing into your own life means developing your own values, relationships, and ways of doing things. In family therapy, we call this differentiation : embodying your own identity separate from your family of origin while staying connected and in relationship to them.

This is a healthy normal developmental life stage but it's one that can trigger family conflict and tension.

Parents may feel pushed away. Adult children may feel controlled, guilty, or caught between keeping the peace and being true to themselves.

Family therapy can help you move out of the same old cycle and toward something different: more honest communication, clearer boundaries, and connection that doesn’t require either person to lose themselves.

You don’t have to choose between closeness and independence. If you're interested in family therapy we'd love to connect with you.

In EMDR, “just go with that” is an invitation to notice what comes up without forcing, analysing, or steering the process.

A memory, an image, a sensation, a thought, whatever surfaces can offer a pathway into the deeper layers of your experience.

Curious about EMDR or wondering if it could support your healing? Deema is currently accepting new EMDR clients, email us at hello@nomiitherapyandwellness.com to schedule a free consultation call! ✨ by @nomiitherapy

You love your partner. You even love their family… most of the time.

However, when your in-laws become a source of tension in your relationship, things can get complicated fast.

Feeling stuck in the middle or painted as the villain? Frustrated that your partner doesn’t get it? Wondering how to set boundaries without making things worse?

We get it. In-law relationships can be messy, and navigating them together isn’t always easy.

Our latest blog explores how to manage in-law tension, get on the same page with your partner, and protect your relationship without losing yourself in the process.

At Nomii Therapy & Wellness, we specialize in relationship and family therapy. In-law relationships are complicated, and we'd love to support you in navigating those relationships while keeping your connection to self and your partner strong.

Family relationships don't have to be perfect to be deeply rewarding and close.

Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) helps families better understand each other, navigate difficult moments, and build deeper connection and repair.

It can be helpful for:

→ Adult children wanting to reconnect or repair their relationship with a parent
→ Parents supporting a child or teen through anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges
→ Families navigating big transitions, changing roles, or growing independence
→ Setting boundaries and limits around things like screens, while staying connected
→ Breaking cycles of criticism, withdrawal, conflict, or feeling misunderstood
→ Learning how to express the feelings and needs underneath the conflict

Rather than asking “Who’s right?”, EFFT gets curious about what’s happening underneath the conflict and what each person is longing for from the other. Usually, that longing is about wanting to feel understood and close to each other, not more distant.

The goal is that even when we are different people that can have disagreements, we can still respect and love each other and be on the same team.

Family therapy can create space for the conversations that are hard to have on your own.

If you're interested in family therapy and if it could be the right fit for you, we would love to connect with you and your family! hello@nomiitherapyandwellness to see how an EFFT therapist can support.

ADHD brain? Big feelings? Life feeling a little (or a lot) overwhelming?

Meet Jocie.

Jocie is an RCC who works with adolescents and adults navigating ADHD & neurodivergence, anxiety, emotion regulation, relationships, self-esteem, depression, grief, and big life transitions.

She brings warmth, curiosity, and a very human approach to therapy - with specialized training in ADHD clinical services, DBT, anxiety, trauma, and attachment-focused therapy.

Her goal isn’t to “fix” you or hand you a list of things you should be doing. It’s to help you understand yourself, your patterns, and what’s underneath the overwhelm, so you can feel more grounded and more like yourself.

At Nomii, we believe therapy is a place to be known, be bold, and be fully human. Jocie embodies that beautifully. 🌿

If you’re looking for support for yourself or your teen, Jocie might be your person.
