POSTS STORIES REELS

I’ve been working on something for a while that I’m finally ready to start talking about publicly.

I’m writing a book called The Race After the Race: DNF, Identity, and the Mental Aftermath of Ultrarunning.

I’ve DNF’d. I’ve made the decision to stop and regretted it before I was even home. I’ve also stopped a race for reasons I still believe were right.

But I don’t want to write this from my experience alone.

I’m looking for ultrarunners willing to tell me about their own DNFs. Recent ones. Old ones. Ones you regret and ones you don’t.

If you’re willing to share yours, there’s a Share Your DNF link in my bio.

And if another runner came to mind while you were reading this, send this post to them. #ultrarunners #dnf by @noscenemiles

Night runs in October are just different. by @noscenemiles

You never know if you don’t try. by @noscenemiles

What a morning at the Queen Bee Half Marathon, @midpackmenace and I crushed it today. One of if not the best race we’ve ever run. Went under our goal time by over 10 minutes, and had a blast all 13.1 miles! by @noscenemiles

Twas the night before Jallucinations and all the ghouls were out. @aravaipavirtual Javelina Jallucinations starts tomorrow! #javelinajallucinations by @noscenemiles

What a morning, Sound The Alarm is one of my favorite races. The goal today was just go sub 30:00 I’ve never run a 5k in under 30:00. Today I messed around and put down 26:53! So stoked on this race. #SoundTheAlarm5K by @noscenemiles

Starting line nerves have kicked in. Let’s Go!!! by @noscenemiles

Checked in, got the course re-route information, ready to race!!! Approaching this 100k with a completely different mindset. Let’s go!! by @noscenemiles

15 miles on the East Fork course today and felt good throughout. Had a special moment around mile 12 and felt my church family on the course with me, legit Amie and I had goosebumps. by @noscenemiles

10 miles on a trail that’s been in my head for a year now. Today wasn’t about pace. Today was about time, time on feet, time in race day shoes, time on the trail and it was beautiful. We ran the hardest section of the course for the upcoming race, last year this section broke me. Today I took back a part of my brain that feared this section, I felt strong and ran well but mentally I felt confident. Less than a month until race day. by @noscenemiles

I’m still processing Steel City 12 hour Endurance Run, what an absolutely amazing night we had. Race stopped twice for tornado warning, met @mattharisiades somewhere around mile 20 and we carried each other for the next 25 or so miles while sharing some laughs, life lessons, and great vibes. I was floored when I learned that Amie and I finished 11th and 12 respectively in a field of 88 runners, and if that wasn’t cool enough I was 8th place male and Amie was 4th place female! What!!?? 42.5 miles through a rain soaked night, a race that I’ll never forget! There is nothing else like Ultra Running! by @noscenemiles

Almost midnight time for a shoe and sock change, feet have been soaked for hours. Still feeling good! by @noscenemiles
