These creators don’t simply bring finished objects — they bring stories of labour and context. The makers at Noun (@noun.goa ) are less commercial brands and more cultural actors; they don’t merely produce objects — they carry forward craft as knowledge. What Do You Carry began as a simple question : about what stays with us as we move through our days. Not just the objects we hold, but the habits, memories, responsibilities, and hopes that travel alongside us. Some visible. Some not. These portraits are a record of that moment, of people, presence, and what they brought into the frame. Created in collaboration with Behno New York, hosted by Shveta Salve. Common Tongue looks at craft as a language. One spoken through gesture, rhythm, and repetition rather than words. Across regions and disciplines, makers share a vocabulary of touch: the pull of a thread, the strike of a tool, the memory carried in a weave or surface. This chapter explores how meaning travels through making. Techniques move between generations, materials respond to the hands that shape them, and forms evolve as traditions meet new contexts. As a new year begins, Better Daze asks a simple but unsettled question: what does “better” really mean now? For some, it is stillness and repair. For others, release, gathering, momentum. Most of us live somewhere in between, moving through days shaped by acceleration, excess, fragility, and quiet longing. Better Daze holds this simultaneity, the haze we move through and the urgency beneath it. This chapter invites each artist to interpret Better Daze in their own way, as memory, atmosphere, resistance, or hope. Not a fixed vision, but an open question. One that asks how we live, what we keep, and what we choose to let go of as we step forward.
