A little date night with my forever date. 🤍🥂 Sometimes all we need is a night out, good laughs, and a little time for just us. ❤

Married life, date night, forever date, mommy & daddy time

October looks a little different when you’re making memories with your favorite people. 🍂🎃🤎 Pumpkin patches, cozy days, fall adventures, and a whole lot of chaos with our little crew. These are the moments I’ll always cherish. 🫶🏼✨

Bringing back millennial photo poses, one ✌🏼 and awkward angle at a time. 🎃😂

Because we invented the peace sign, the duck face, and the dramatic poses. 💁🏻‍♀️🍂 luckily I didn’t throw a twerk video in there… 🤣

Update: My sutures are out! My incision is healing beautifully, my hair is already growing back in that area, and I’m feeling really well. 🙏🏻

I tried to rage-bait both of my neurosurgeons, but neither one took the bait. 😂 I was surprised to learn that they don’t really view themselves as “doctors”—they’re “surgeons.” According to them, doctors prescribe medicine, while surgeons are the mechanics of medicine: hands-on problem solvers who go in, find what’s broken, and fix it. Basically, they’re contractors with scalpels. 🤣

Somehow Venus de Milo also entered the conversation, and apparently only millennials know who she is. 😂 and it came up because he said I was like a mutant because I’m healing so fast!

Ya really don’t know who Venus de Milo is from the ninja turtles?

Finally washed my hair today. Everything was going great… until I patted my incision dry and immediately started seeing stars. 😭 I felt like I was going to pass out and ended up completely naked on the bathroom floor. 🤣

I can laugh now because I can only imagine what was going through my husband’s mind. One minute I’m washing my hair, the next I’m on the floor and he’s trying to get me dressed while I’m laying there. 😂

Recovery will humble you QUICK.

But then I looked at this picture.

I look different. I don’t look like the version of myself I’m used to seeing—and somehow, that doesn’t make me sad.

Because she is still me.

This version of me has been cut open, stitched back together, brought home, cared for, and forced to slow down. She may look different, but she is no less beautiful.

And I refuse to wait until I’m “back to myself” to love myself again.

We spend so much of our lives loving ourselves conditionally—when we look better, feel better, accomplish more, or finally become who we think we’re supposed to be.

But what about the woman in the middle of it?

The one healing.
The one changing.
The one surviving.
The one becoming.

She deserves to be admired too.

So this season, I’m not trying to get back to an old version of me.

I’m learning to love this one. 🤍

Every version of you deserves your love. Even the one you barely recognize.

It’s only a season—but while you’re here, love her deeply.

Recovery journey, healing with intention, Gods miracle, women empowerment by @np_yve

I’ve spent so much of my life feeling like I’m not doing enough. I’m not far enough. I should be doing more.

Then life forced me to stop. AGAIN

And in the stillness, I realized something I couldn’t see while I was busy carrying everything:

Maybe I was never doing too little. Maybe I was carrying too much.

It’s going to take a whole team to do what I quietly did every day—and there’s something deeply validating about finally seeing the weight of your own presence.

As women, we are powerful in ways we don’t always recognize. We pour life into everything we touch. We nurture people, build homes, hold families together, create dreams, carry burdens—and somehow still question whether we’re enough.

So to the woman who lies down at night wondering if she did enough today:

You did.

Your worth isn’t always obvious while you’re busy giving pieces of yourself to everyone else.

Sometimes you have to stop moving to finally see the magnitude of the woman who was keeping everything moving.

Never underestimate your presence.
Your absence will reveal just how much of you was everywhere. 🤍

Day 2 Post op- Craniectomy & Cranioplasty

Today I’ve been feeling a little loopy—dealing with brain fog, nausea, and pain—but overall, I’m still in good spirits. I’m simply so grateful to be home with my family. It really is the little things. 🤍

I slept so well last night just because I was back in my own bed. And showering today felt like heaven on earth! My last real shower was Sunday—I’ve been taking bird baths ever since. 😂 There’s truly nothing like a good, warm shower!

Don’t mind my husband and all his comments. I don’t micro-manage 🤣🤣 (I do, I do, what can I say)..

I’m taking recovery one day at a time and praising God every day for His mercy, grace, and continued healing. 🙏🏻

Recovery journey, post-op craniectomy, cranioplasty by @np_yve

Hi everyone 🤍

I tried making a video, but I’m just not ready yet. I did, however, want to take a moment to tell you all how incredibly grateful I am for every message, every word of encouragement, every act of support, and most of all, every prayer. I have felt them more than you know. 🙏🏻

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” — Matthew 18:20

I was discharged HOME just 24 hours after a craniectomy and cranioplasty. 🥹🙏🏻 Even writing that feels unbelievable. I truly believe I witnessed God perform a miracle in my life.

I was walking just 3 hours after surgery. I was eating, talking, using the bathroom, and doing things I never imagined I would be doing so soon after this type of procedure. I have pain, of course, but overall, considering the magnitude of this surgery, I am doing incredibly well.

God’s presence was with me through every single part of this journey.

My surgeons were beyond amazing. My nurses were truly a work of God. They cared for me, comforted me, braided my hair, and made sure I felt safe and cared for until the moment I walked out of those hospital doors. UVA Hospital gave me the best medical experience I have ever had, and I will forever be grateful. 🤍

I’m slowly going through everyone’s messages and will try to respond as soon as I can tolerate the screen and lighting a little better. Please know that even if I haven’t responded yet, I have felt your love.

⚠️ PICTURE 2 — GRAPHIC WARNING
I want to share this journey—all of it—but if you are sensitive to surgical incisions, please don’t swipe to picture 2.

My surgeon was kind enough to preserve as much of my hair as possible and only shave what was absolutely necessary. I had my bandages changed and my incision cleaned today, and it looks great. 🙏🏻🥹

God is merciful. God is faithful.

My heart is so full from the love, prayers, and strength I have received through all of you. This experience has reminded me just how powerful it is to have people come together and pray for you.

Community is everything. Prayer is powerful. And God was in that operating room with me. 🙏🏻🤍

Brain surgery, tumor free, Gods will by @np_yve

Hey everyone, this is Fabio (Yvette’s husband) I wanted to share an incredible update about Yvette.

Her surgery went better than anyone could have imagined. What was expected to be a minimum four-hour procedure was completed in approximately one hour. Instead of being transferred to the ICU as planned, she is recovering in an intermediate care unit.

The surgeons were able to completely remove the mass. Although it was locally destructive, it had not spread beyond that area. The tumor was sent to pathology and we will have some answers in a few weeks. The damaged portion of her skull was also successfully reconstructed, without any expected deformity or complications.

This is the kind of outcome that can only be described as a miracle.

I have always believed that God works through the hands of skilled medical professionals, and today, we witnessed that firsthand. He guided every person in that operating room and answered so many prayers beyond what we could have hoped for.

To every patient, family member, friend, and supporter who has reached out, prayed, checked in, and sent love…thank you. Yvette truly loves and appreciates every one of you. Your support has meant more to her and our family than words could ever express.

Here are a few photos of my girl in good spirits, already showing the strength and resilience we all know her for. This was a major part of the battle, and now we turn our focus toward a safe and speedy recovery.

Please continue to keep her in your prayers. She will be back stronger, healthier, and better than ever.

God is so good. Thank you all. 🙏🏽🤍 by @np_yve

Lying in bed tonight, thinking about how incredibly grateful I am for every person who has prayed for me—my patients, friends, colleagues, neighbors, members of my dad’s church, and my Instagram and Facebook family. I am beyond thankful for every prayer, message, and word of encouragement.

God has filled my heart and mind with so much peace that I have no room for fear or worry.

Tomorrow, I will undergo a craniectomy to remove a portion of my skull and the tumor, followed by a cranioplasty to reconstruct my skull. As overwhelming as that may sound, I am not afraid. I trust my surgical team, and I am blessed to have one of Virginia’s best neurosurgeons from UVA performing my surgery.

And because I know some of you are wondering—the surgeon said he’ll try to be as conservative as possible when removing my hair. 🤣 Priorities, right?

I remain hopeful that the tumor will be benign and that I can begin my journey toward healing and recovery. If it isn’t, I am prepared to face that too.

I have far too much to live for and so much worth fighting for. I refuse to let this small bump in the road stop me from returning to everything I have worked so hard for. I will fight my very best fight and come back stronger than before.

God is with me. I am covered, protected, and ready. 🤍🙏🏽
