Hello! 👋 I’m Janelle, a Registered Massage Therapist with a focus on c-section recovery. Whether you just had a C-section or had one long ago, follow along for tips and tricks and all things cesarean healing related

Well hello there! 👋

A great big welcome to new followers (there are many of you!) and hello to those who have been here for a while.

I’m Janelle, registered massage therapist & the human behind this account. This is a space where you’ll find information and support for your cesarean recovery. Because nurturing, education and care is kind of my thing.

I am a mama of two boys, my eldest Théo is 9 and my littlest Sam is 6. They are exactly 2.5 years apart... to the day. Nope, that wasn’t planned.

Many mamas ask me how I started down this path. They’re often surprised to hear that I had two homebirths. But in my work space, I was supporting folks in their postpartum period and I was seeing more and more clients with questions about cesarean recovery.

Not having the answers, I set out to learn. Several years later, here I am showing up in my treatment room and on Instagram daily talking about cesarean recovery.

In 2023, I launched The Cesarean Recovery Guide - a week-by-week guide that is packed with valuable information like general recovery tips you should have gotten at discharge, product recommendations, hydrotherapy, the benefits of massage therapy, the science of scar tissue and so much more.

Last year, I launched Nurturing the Mother: Cesarean Massage & Rehab for Healthcare Professionals, an in person or virtual continuing education course for healthcare professionals who want to show up fully for mamas who are recovering from a cesarean. Healthcare professionals across Canada and the United States joined in to learn about cesarean recovery and how to nurture mothers during this season.

And all the while I am happily massaging my weeks away by nurturing and educating c-section mamas one on one (or sometimes one on two when they bring their babies) @localhealthclinic & @pommidwives in Vancouver, BC.

So whether you’re a mama who’s planning or recovering from a cesarean or you’re a healthcare professional who’s curious about enriching your practice by expanding your knowledge about cesarean recovery. Welcome. I am happy you’re here!

✨ Feel free to reach out and DM or comment anytime - I love connecting with all of you! ✨ by @nurturingthemother.ca

Check out the Cesarean Recovery Guide: a DIY, self-paced, week-by-week program to get your c-section scar feeling better. 🤎

If you’ve been wondering where to start with your recovery, what’s normal, or whether it’s too late to begin, this was made for you. It takes you from your very first days all the way through the long game, at your own pace, in your own home.

Here’s a peek of what’s inside:

✨ Welcome To Your Recovery Journey
✨ Your Foundation for Recovery
✨ Helpful Resources
✨ The Early Days
✨ Weeks 0 to 2
✨ Weeks 2 to 6
✨ Weeks 6 to 10
✨ Weeks 10 to 12
✨ Weeks 12 to 14
✨ Week 14 Onward
✨ BONUS: The Motherhood Self-Care Essentials

You’ll learn how to care for your scar, how to massage it step by step, how to reconnect with your core, and what your body needs at every stage of healing. No guessing, just a clear roadmap you can come back to whenever you need it.

Whether you had your cesarean last week or years ago, you are not too early and you are not too late. Your scar is living tissue, and it responds to care.

If you’ve had a cesarean and you’re wondering things like…

When can I actually start touching my scar?
Why does it still feel tight or numb?
Is this normal… or did I miss something?

You’re not alone.

Most people leave the hospital with very little guidance on what to do with their scar once they’re home. So they either avoid it completely or try random things they’ve seen online.

Neither of those always feel right for everyone.

There is a way to approach this that’s clear, safe, and actually makes sense for how your body heals.

The Cesarean Recovery Guide walks you through:

• what healing typically looks like
• when scar massage is appropriate
• how to safely improve sensation and mobility
• how your core plays a role in recovery
• what’s normal and what might need more attention

Whether you’re a few weeks postpartum or a few months out, it meets you where you are.

Listen, I get it. There are the big things that demand our attention. We tend to it.

But then there are the little, often time nagging things that also need our attention. These things are easier to bump down the to do list.

But I’m here to remind you (and myself) to take care of those little things too. ✨ by @nurturingthemother.ca

Ann is a birth and postpartum doula as well as an educator and mentor. Join us as she shares how she supports folks in pregnancy, postpartum and parenthood.

A few words from Ann: To every mama and family out there: you are more capable than you know. Your body was beautifully designed, and you get to have a voice in your care. Ask questions, learn your options, and make decisions from a place of confidence instead of fear. You deserve to feel informed and supported in every season, from pregnancy through birth and into those tender postpartum days.

And please hear this: you don’t have to do it alone! Lean on your people, ask for help, and give yourself so much grace. Birth doesn’t always go the way we plan, but you can still walk away from it feeling strong and cared for.

🍂 Join us for the last Virtual cohort for 2026 of Nurturing the Mother: Cesarean Massage & Rehab! 🍂

Do you support mothers during pregnancy and postpartum? Do you want to increase your confidence when supporting them to prepare for and recover from a cesarean?

If you answered yes, then join me for the next Virtual Cohort! (In Person courses available too, drop me a DM to find out when/where the next one is).

Cesarean births make up over 1 in 3 births in Canada, and most are unplanned. That means thousands of people are recovering from major abdominal surgery while learning how to care for a newborn—often with very little support for their own healing.

That’s where you come in.

Join me for a two-day, online training designed for health care professionals who want to show up more fully for this often-overlooked population.

🗓 November 22 & 23 2026 VIA ZOOM
⏰ 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM PCT
💳 $350 + tax 🐦 Early Bird Pricing 🐦 ($399+tax after Nov 1st)

🗓 Follow-up: Q&A, Integration & Business Mastermind December 11th from 9am to 10am PCT

The Wrap up Q&A Call for the virtual cohort has been up-leveled. It will now include a conversation about Integration and for those interested, a Mastermind session where we can brainstorm and level up your massage business.

What you’ll get:
• 9 hours of live teaching over 2 days
• Ongoing support inside a private WhatsApp group until the final Q&A call.
• Real-time integration and case discussion
• Final Q&A, Integration & Business Mastermind
