On Friday, students rallied at Garibaldi Plaza to launch our campaign to demand an increase to Black student enrollment at NYU! We heard from various speakers and organizations who spoke to the experience of being Black on campus and the failure of the administration to support the Black student body.

We are demanding:
- Increase Black enrollment to 20% within the next 5 years to match NYC demographics
- Publicly release demographic enrollment data so that students can judge the progress themselves
- Create a Black space on campus within a year
- Hire more Black faculty and release the demographics of faculty on campus

SDS and allied organizations will continue to fight for these demands, this rally was just the beginning. If you support these demands sign the petition at the link in our bio but more importantly come out to our weekly meetings every Thursday 6pm at 4th floor of the Gallatin building where we will be organizing behind this campaign.

EDUCATION IS A RIGHT, NOT JUST FOR THE RICH AND WHITE! INCREASE BLACK ENROLLMENT NOW!

Last weekend, Bro. Raoul Estinvil and Bro. Donavan Lowers had the privilege of attending the College Brothers Retreat at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey.

Throughout the retreat, we participated in a multitude of impactful sessions focused on chapter management, financial literacy, professional development, and alumni networking. Each session provided valuable insight and lessons that we can bring back to our chapter and apply throughout our collegiate and professional journeys.

As two brothers with a strong interest in politics and public service, we were especially grateful for the opportunity to connect with Bro. Raymond Royster @digitalphotosbyray, the Deputy Director of Community for the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General. We had a fruitful conversation about his career, the work he does, and the path toward making an impact in the legal and political space. We sincerely thank Bro. Royster for taking the time to speak with us and for continuing to exemplify service and leadership.

The retreat was an incredible experience filled with fellowship, learning, and brotherhood. We are grateful to Bro. Theodore Young II @youngapa1906 and Bro. Rasheen E. Smith @thealphavip for hosting us and for their continued leadership in spreading and upholding the light of Alpha high.

This morning, Bro. Donavan Lowers and Bro. Raoul Estinvil were proud to welcome students on their first day of school at the East Side Community School, alongside the brothers of @wallstreetalphas.

As men of Alpha, service is more than a commitment, it is a responsibility. We believe in showing up, pouring into our youth, and creating meaningful moments that remind the next generation that they are seen, supported, and capable of greatness.

On Tuesday, May 24th, 2016, the Upsilon Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded and recognized as the first and only Divine Nine fraternity on NYU’s campus. What began in Fall 2016 as a vision of brotherhood, leadership, scholarship, and service has grown into a legacy that continues to leave its mark across the yard and beyond.

For 10 years, the brothers of Upsilon Upsilon have remained committed to uplifting the NYU community through service, advocacy, mentorship, and the embodiment of manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind. Through every challenge, transition, and season of growth, the legacy of the UnrulYY never faded.

This moment is not just a celebration of time, but a celebration of resilience, brotherhood, and the generations of leaders who refused to let the flame die out.

To every brother, supporter, alumni member, and member of the community who has poured into this chapter over the last decade: thank you for being part of this journey. The story of the UnrulYY is still being written.

Happy 10th Chapterversary to the Upsilon Upsilon Chapter.
’06 to the UnrulYY! 🖤💛
