What does election sabotage look like? How do we determine what's at risk & when we need to activate against authoritarianism? We know that our votes should decide our government. But Trump and his billionaire cronies are meddling with the election, threatening our election workers, and increasing ICE presence across California days before the election. We know that Trump is scared that people power will win this election season. But that doesn't mean he won't try to interfere. If MAGA passes a Red Line, we're prepared to fight back IMMEDIATELY! Hundreds of people across the Bay Area have signed the Bay Get Ready Plan to commit to fighting back, training up, and receiving alerts when it's time to activate. Join now before the midterms so you can be prepared! We will not be manipulated, intimidated, or silenced. We choose our leaders, not Trump. Why are billionaires so desperate to sway Oakland’s school board elections? 💸 Follow the money. Empower Oakland’s own disclaimer lists its top funders as Gagan Biyani, Chris Larsen, and Ryan Graciano. Teachers say that money pushes a version of “fiscal accountability” that has meant school closures and privatization in other cities, and now the threat of AI replacing real investment in our classrooms. And the connections go deeper. On Oct. 2, Biyani and Empower Oakland co-founder Loren Taylor co-hosted a closed-door meeting in Oakland with Palantir executive Aki Jain to discuss “business x politics,” the AI boom, and data centers, right in the lead-up to this election. Biyani now leads an AI academy founded by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, the venture capital billionaires who backed Trump. It’s funded in part by Palantir and Anduril. Palantir is the surveillance company ICE uses to track down immigrants, and it was co-founded by Peter Thiel, the right-wing megadonor whose agenda journalist Gil Durán documents in his new book, The Nerd Reich. That’s not the future we want for Oakland’s kids. We believe schools should be run by teachers, students, and families making decisions together. That’s why Oakland teachers are endorsing Jennifer Brouhard and Valarie Bachelor for School Board. Both have a proven record of putting students first. 🍎 No billionaire board. Vote with Oakland teachers by Tuesday, Nov. 3! 🔗 VoteWithOaklandTeachers.com #VoteWithOaklandTeachers #Oakland #NoBillionaireBoard by @oaklandrisingaction
Breaking!🚨🚨 Why did Gagan Biyani (CEO of political pressure group Empower Oakland) and Loren Taylor (former Mayoral candidate and co-founder of Empower Oakland) co-host a closed-door meeting in Oakland with Palantir’s CTO *Aki Jain to discuss “the intersection of business x politics” including the “AI boom”and “data centers” back on October 2nd in the lead up to this upcoming election? Reminder that Empower Oakland came out of conversations with Garry Tan, a founding board member of GrowSF and former Palantir employee who contacted Biyani to create a “GrowSF in the East Bay.” Biyani himself is the newly minted CEO of the Horowitz Andreessen AI academy, a new institution founded by MAGA venture capital billionaires Marc Andreessen & Ben Horowitz, and funded by, among other tech companies, Palantir & Andruil. Why is this a big deal? Well first off Andreessen & Horowitz are among the leading donors to pro-data center candidates across the country, spending at least $50 million this last election cycle alone. This is along with $12 million to Trump’s MAGA Inc. PAC & $47 million to pro-Crypto PACs. But also, Palantir is the mass surveillance company employed by ICE and utilized by DODGE to create massive databases used to both track down and arrest immigrants along with analyze which government contracts DODGE wanted to cut — including USAID and Medicaid. Palantir, along with Andruil, is co-founded by Peter Thiel, with the latter being heavily invested in by Andreessen-Horowitz. Thiel is an anti-Democracy tech billionaire and right-wing mega donor, whose insidious agenda has been well-captured in local journalist Gil Durán’s new book, the Nerd Reich. To our followers in Oakland! Be careful how you vote this election, follow the money, and be extra cautious with any Empower Oakland (read; astroturf-backed) candidates. by @oaklandrisingaction
Millions use Bay Area public transit every day, but because of underinvestment, AC Transit, MUNI, BART, and more are at risk of catastrophic cuts. 🙅 🚃 Bay Rising Action is encouraging a YES vote for Measure RTM and Prop H. A YES means that we can continue using our public transit, save time on the road, and support our neighbors who rely on trains and busses. ✅ We have a full Bay Area progressive voter guide! Check it out in our bio or bayrisingaction.org/voterguide/ 🤗 🗳️ by @oaklandrisingaction
Oaklands current government structure lacks accountability and clear leadership. That’s why we’re endorsing Measure EE! To make Oakland city hall more effective and accountable to voters! Measure EE is a charter amendment that clarifies the mayor and city councils responsibilities, powers, and accountability structures. Measure EE would reform Oaklands charter to strengthen the Mayors role as Oaklands chief executive officer with the Mayor being able to hire and manage the city administrator. Simply put: Oakland needs change. We need leadership with the power to act quickly on the challenges facing Oaklanders. We need solutions! We need Measure EE! by @oaklandrisingaction
